What’s the role?

The Calibration Coordinator is responsible for the administration of the calibration system for Carl Zeiss Meditec within an established annual budget. Implements the calibration policy and performs the calibration and test procedures. Ensures accurately calibrated test equipment in compliance with GMP requirements of the FDA in order to provide consistently high-quality products to our customers.

Here’s what you’ll do:

  • Maintain currency of and adhere to applicable GMP and ISO 13485 processes and procedures. Abide by state and federal employment laws.
  • Manage the calibration system to ensure the Carl Zeiss Meditec products and tools conform to ANSI/NCSL Z540-1. Control a system that provides prevention of inaccuracies through detection of deficiencies and timely corrective systems.
  • Negotiate and approve the contracts with outside calibration sources. Oversee the administration of the control system for calibrating specialized equipment (not on the contract) with regard to cost and time.
  • Assist in the development and maintenance of the calibration procedure in compliance with ANSI/ NCSL Z540-1and traceable to the National Institute for Standards and Technology. Maintain accurate records and observe normal safety requirements.
  • Maintain close communication with all department supervisors on calibration requirements. Analyze and resolve problems encountered during the regular course of equipment calibration.
  • Analyze repair cost for damaged equipment; determine if in-hours repairs are possible and cost effective. Arrange transport of equipment requiring calibration and/or repair with outside calibration vendors.
  • Assist Receiving Inspections when need arises. Follow prescribed procedures, including maintaining accurate QC records.

Do you qualify?

  • AA degree in technical field (electronics, math, physics, etc.) or equivalent. Minimum of five (5) years of mechanical inspection and/or metrology experience.
  • Formal training in QA/QC concepts and applications (college, seminars, etc.). Ability to interpret complex blueprints, through the understanding of ANSI/NCSL Z540-1and GMP regulations and specifications.
  • Must have the know-how to operate and handle calibration tools and test equipment.
  • Must have good communication skills (oral and written) and be able to convince others of the need to comply with the calibration schedule.
  • Good part drawing interpretation skills preferred.
  • Experience in using standard measuring equipment.
  • Have a thorough understanding of procedures for documenting and maintaining QC records.
  • Solid computer skills using Microsoft Word and Excel.

The job requires some lifting. Assistance should be obtained when lifting cartons weighing in excess of 35 pounds. Forklifts are available to aid in moving cartons weighing over 50 pounds. Parts are stored in a typical warehouse fashion. On occasion exposure to chemicals used on various metals and plastics, i.e. anodizing, Loctite, epoxies, etc.

The hourly pay range for this position is $38.00 - $47.00.


The pay offered for this role may be influenced by factors such as job location, scope of role, qualifications, education, experience, & complexity/specialization/scarcity of talent.

This position is eligible for a Performance Bonus.
