Job Opening: Certified Occupational Therapist Assistant (COTA)

Job Description:
  • Treat patients as directed by the Occupational Therapist.
  • Record daily treatment notes and weekly progress notes per the OT Board.
  • Implement treatment plans as prescribed by the physician.
  • Assist the nursing department with training of Restorative Aides.
  • Communicate with supervisors and other health team members regarding patient progress, concerns, and plans.
  • Participate in in-service training programs for other staff in the facility.
  • Maintain documentation per Occupational Therapy Board, including evaluations, daily treatment notes, weekly progress notes, and recertification documentation, in accordance with state practice acts and third-party payer requirements.
  • Instruct patients' families or nursing staff in maintenance programs and caregiver training in preparation for discharge from therapy services.
  • Participate in discharge planning.
  • Assist with the cleaning and maintenance of the treatment area.
  • Report any issues with department equipment to ensure it is kept in good working order.
  • Establish positive, effective, and appropriate relationships with patients/residents, families, staff, and professional colleagues.


Required License or Certification
  • Valid Occupational Therapist Assistant License
