Dietary Aide to join our dietary team. This role is essential in supporting meal service operations and ensuring our residents receive nutritious meals in a clean and safe environment.
General PurposeDietary Aide assignments are determined based on the needs of the shift. This position reports to the Cook and Dietary Supervisor and supports daily kitchen operations, meal service, and sanitation.
Essential DutiesEvery effort has been made to identify the essential functions of this position; however, this does not imply that these are the only duties you will be required to perform.
- Learn and follow food service routines within a short period of time.
- Set up meal trays according to dietary guidelines.
- Break down returned trays and assist with dishwashing.
- Assist with serving meals to residents.
- Check and record chlorine concentration and water temperature of the dishwashing machine at the start of the shift.
- Monitor dishwasher temperatures during wash cycles.
- Operate dishwashing equipment safely and effectively.
- Prepare nourishments and snacks as assigned.
- Sweep and mop kitchen and dietary areas.
- Dispose of trash and garbage properly.
- Store groceries and supplies in a safe, clean, and organized manner.
- Clean work surfaces, refrigerators, and kitchen equipment.
- Maintain cleanliness and sanitation throughout the kitchen.
- Assist with orientation and ongoing training of dietary staff as needed.
- Work cooperatively with all departments to support resident care.
Supervisory RequirementsThis position
does not have supervisory responsibilities.
QualificationsEducation and/or Experience- High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
- Previous dietary or food service experience is a plus but not required.
Language Skills- Ability to read and follow recipes and technical procedures.
- Ability to communicate effectively with staff and supervisors.
Mathematical Skills- Ability to apply basic mathematical concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions.
Reasoning Ability- Ability to solve practical problems and interpret written, oral, or diagram instructions.
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations- Must obtain and maintain a Food Handler's Certificate.
Physical Demands- Frequent standing and/or walking; occasional sitting.
- Frequent reaching, pushing, and pulling.
- Frequent talking, hearing, tasting, and smelling.
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds frequently.
- Occasional climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, or crawling.
- Vision abilities include close, distance, color, peripheral, and depth perception with the ability to adjust focus.
Work EnvironmentThe work environment is a healthcare kitchen setting with a
