General Purpose

The primary purpose of the Activities Assistant is to assist the Activities Director in running a creative and interactive activities program designed to meet the physical, mental, and psychosocial needs of each resident in accordance with federal, state, and facility guidelines.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities

• Assist with planning and conducting individual, small group, and large group activities
• Encourage resident participation in activities, hobbies, crafts, games, and reading
• Assist with resident outings and transportation coordination as needed
• Help develop and maintain monthly activity calendars and attendance records
• Provide in-room activities for residents who are bed-bound or isolated
• Assist with activity assessments, care plans, and quarterly progress notes
• Participate in resident care planning and discharge planning processes
• Maintain positive communication with residents, families, staff, and visitors
• Assist with Quality Assurance and activity program improvement initiatives
• Maintain the Activity Department in a clean, organized, and secure manner
• Promote a warm, engaging, and resident-centered environment

Qualifications

Education & Experience

• High school diploma or equivalent required
• One year of long-term care experience preferred

Skills & Abilities

• Strong communication and interpersonal skills
• Creative, energetic, and compassionate approach to resident care
• Ability to follow written and verbal instructions
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team

Physical Demands

• Frequent standing, walking, pushing, pulling, and reaching
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs
• Occasional bending, kneeling, crouching, or crawling
• Ability to assist residents during activities and outings

Work Environment

• Skilled nursing facility setting
• Low to moderate noise level
• Active, resident-focused environment
