Job Responsibilities:
  • Develop and implement effective treatment plans, obtaining necessary approvals from referring physicians.
  • Deliver patient care according to physician-directed treatment plans.
  • Collaborate with the nursing department to train Restorative Aides.
  • Supervise Occupational Therapy Assistants in patient care and activities, in accordance with state practice acts.
  • Communicate regularly with supervisors and the healthcare team about patient progress, challenges, and plans.
  • Participate in Patient Care Conferences, Utilization Review meetings, and Rehabilitation Conferences as required.
  • Engage in in-service training programs for facility staff.
  • Maintain accurate documentation of evaluations, treatment notes, and progress records, complying with the Occupational Therapy Board State Practice Act and requirements from governmental and third-party payers.
  • Record any changes in treatment as per established policies and procedures.
  • Educate patients' families or nursing staff on maintenance programs and provide caregiver training in preparation for patient discharge from therapy.
  • Assist in discharge planning and recommend durable medical equipment to enhance patient mobility and independence, such as braces, walkers, canes, elevated toilet seats, and grab bars.
  • Report any equipment issues to ensure optimal functionality.
