Job Description Summary:
SOLV Energy is looking for a Software Developer to join our Software Team and collaborate on solutions within the fast-evolving renewables industry. Members of the data science/engineering group support our custom software for utility-scale data monitoring, advanced analytics, and reporting. The team is looking for an enthusiastic candidate who can come up to speed quickly and play a critical role in designing and implementing end-to-end technical solutions for complex software systems.

Job Description:

Responsibilities:

  • Adhering to team processes, participate in development design, execution, peer review, testing, deployment, and documentation
  • Significantly contribute to architecting custom applications
  • Lead technical development per functional requirements, sometimes aiding in requirements definition; understand the business context within which our software solutions are utilized
  • Contribute to the creation, migration, and maintenance of complex data models
  • Design and employ optimal database solutions
  • Optimize performance with large, complex data sets that continue to expand; develop methods for monitoring capacity utilization
  • Perform data discovery, analyze correlations of events, and effectively communicate outwardly
  • Implement and support detailed statistical analysis for solar performance characterization and reporting
  • Manage cloud architecture and make recommendations for upgrades and enhancements based on project and business demands
  • Maintain and debug live software systems
  • Continuous learning, proactive knowledge sharing, and mentorship of teammates
  • Complete other responsibilities as assigned

Technical Requirements:
  • Git proficiency
  • Proficiency in Python and NumPy/Pandas
  • Advanced database knowledge and SQL proficiency
  • Experience with task scheduling and RESTful interfaces
  • Understanding of API use to consume data in various formats such as JSON
  • Data interpretation and visualization
  • Strong problem-solving ability and analytical skills
  • Clear and concise communication skills including, but not limited to, wikis, technical specifications, flowcharts, protocol/API/schema descriptions, process documentation

Technical Experience Considered a Plus:

  • AWS, cloud services, deployment automation
  • IT systems, networking, and security

Preferred Education and Experience:
  • B.S. in Engineering or Computer Science
  • 7+ years of software development experience and demonstrated ability to engineer technical solutions for complex problems
