Get to Know This Role
The Data Services Manager is responsible for leading a team of data engineers, developers, and analysts to manage data architecture, integration, and analytics across the organization. Reporting to the Director, Information Systems Operations, this position may be based out of the Chico, CA or Mills River, NC Brewery. This role ensures the development, implementation, and maintenance of scalable and efficient data services, supporting business intelligence, analytics, and digital transformation initiatives. The Data Services Manager collaborates with IT, business stakeholders, and leadership to align data strategies with organizational goals.

What You Will Do
- Supervise, train, and develop staff including scheduling, performance management, and personal skill development through goal setting and tracking.
- Responsible for maintaining effective communication with leadership, department colleagues, and other employees.
- Address and document all support activities, problems and resolutions; evaluate documented resolutions and analyze trends for ways to prevent future problems.
- Oversee software development and data pipeline implementation to ensure high-quality, efficient, and scalable solutions.
- Implement best practices for agile development, DevOps, and CI/CD (Continuous Integration/Continuous Deployment) for data services.
- Conduct code reviews, provide technical guidance, and ensure development standards are followed.
- Foster a collaborative and innovative environment to enhance team productivity and engagement.
- Participate in hiring process for staff including interviewing, selection, and onboarding
- Establish performance expectations in support of the department goals and addresses needs for improvement
- Assigns work and projects to staff
Please Apply if You Have
- Bachelor's Degree in computer science, information systems or a related field or any combination of experience and/or education from which comparable knowledge, skills and abilities have been achieved preferred
- 5 years data management, software development, or related areas. required and
- 3 years supervisory and/or management experience required
- Thorough understanding of information technology and information technology systems as well as proficient in latest technology for IT systems and management
- Excellent organization and communication skills
- Strong analysis, critical thinking, and time management skills
- Ability to work independently or with multiple team members simultaneously
- Aptitude and desire to quickly learn new technologies
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite or related software
- Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public
- Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals
- Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited or nonexistent standardization exists.
- Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form
- Ability to handle multiple competing priorities in a fast-paced environment while maintaining composure
- Must have strong reasoning, logical and creative abilities to solve a variety of issues where only limited or nonexistent standardization exists
- Strong expertise in SQL, Python, or other programming languages for data processing
- Experience with cloud-based data solutions (AWS, Azure, Google Cloud)
- Knowledge of database technologies (SQL Server, Databricks)
- Experience in data pipeline development, ETL tools, and API integrations
- Experience with DevOps practices and CI/CD pipelines
- Familiarity with Agile methodologies and software development lifecycle (SDLC)
- Knowledge of machine learning and AI-driven data processing
- Familiarity with data warehousing and big data technologies
- PMP - Project Management Professional upon hire preferred
- Scrum Master Certification (CSM, PSM) upon hire preferred
