Physical Therapist Assistant (PTA) - Part-Time
Sequoia Transitional Care - Porterville, CA
Pay Range: $40.00 - $45.00 per hour (DOE)

Sequoia Transitional Care is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Physical Therapist Assistant (PTA) to join our rehabilitation team. This position offers the opportunity to work closely with therapists and interdisciplinary staff to help residents regain independence and improve their quality of life.
General Purpose

The Staff Physical Therapist Assistant assists the Physical Therapist with patient-related activities and provides direct patient care in accordance with physician orders and established treatment plans.
Essential Duties

Every effort has been made to identify the essential functions of this position; however, this does not imply that these are the only duties you will be required to perform.
  • Treat patients as directed by the Physical Therapist.
  • Provide therapy services in accordance with physician treatment plans.
  • Record daily treatment notes and weekly progress notes per PT Board and facility guidelines.
  • Assist in maintaining the therapy department and treatment areas.
  • Participate in patient care conferences and rehabilitation meetings as needed.
  • Assist with cleaning and maintaining therapy equipment and treatment areas.
  • Communicate with the supervising therapist and interdisciplinary team regarding patient progress, concerns, and treatment plans.
  • Assist nursing staff with training and support of Restorative Aides.
  • Participate in in-service education programs and staff training.
  • Document treatment changes in accordance with facility policies and procedures.
  • Educate residents, families, and staff on maintenance programs and caregiver training in preparation for discharge.
  • Report equipment issues to ensure safe and effective operation.
  • Maintain positive, professional relationships with residents, families, and team members.
Supervisory Requirements

This position does not have supervisory responsibilities.
Qualifications
Education and/or Experience
  • Graduate of an accredited Physical Therapist Assistant program.
  • Experience in a skilled nursing facility preferred but not required.
  • Proficiency with electronic medical record systems such as Casamba and PointClickCare preferred.
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations
  • Current, active Physical Therapist Assistant (PTA) license in the state.
  • Must maintain license in good standing at all times.
  • Must meet all continuing education requirements per state regulations.
Language Skills
  • Ability to read and interpret technical procedures and policy manuals.
  • Ability to effectively communicate with supervisors, coworkers, residents, and families.
Mathematical Skills
  • Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions.
Reasoning Ability
  • Ability to solve practical problems and interpret a variety of instructions in written, oral, or diagram form.
Physical Demands

The essential functions of this position require the following physical abilities:
  • Standing and/or walking frequently.
  • Sitting occasionally.
  • Frequent reaching, pushing, and pulling.
  • Frequent talking and hearing.
  • Ability to exert up to 100 pounds occasionally, 50 pounds frequently, and 20 pounds constantly to assist residents and move equipment.
  • Occasional climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, or crawling.
  • Vision abilities include close, distance, color, peripheral, and depth perception with ability to adjust focus.
Work Environment
