Medical Records Assistant - Full Time

Pay: $20-$22 per hour (DOE)

Santa Cruz Post Acute is seeking a detail‑oriented, organized, and dependable Medical Records Assistant to join our team! This full‑time role plays a key part in ensuring accurate and secure management of resident medical records in compliance with federal, state, and facility requirements.
Responsibilities
- Maintain and organize resident medical records in accordance with regulatory and facility standards
- Ensure timely, accurate filing of physician orders, labs, progress notes, and other clinical documentation
- Manage requests for medical records from authorized parties while ensuring HIPAA compliance
- Assist with audits, surveys, and quality assurance processes
- Support nursing and administrative departments with documentation needs
- Perform data entry, scanning, chart assembly, and record retention tasks
- Maintain confidentiality and secure handling of all protected health information
Qualifications
- Previous experience in medical records, health information management, or a healthcare administrative role preferred
- Knowledge of HIPAA and healthcare documentation standards
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast‑paced environment
- Computer literacy, including EMR systems and basic office software
