Department: Human Resources
The Human Resources Supervisor is designed to be instrumental in supporting the development of and leading the implementation of innovative HR strategies that are aligned with overarching business needs. The Supervisor will serve as an operational advisor to the Manager, Human Resources and hospital leadership across business units and departments within the hospital, providing guidance on the full spectrum of human resource management.
Concurrently, this individual will provide hands-on leadership and operational oversight for a diverse portfolio of critical HR initiatives, ensuring the successful execution of projects and daily operations by your team of staff across Employee & Labor Relations, Leave & Absence Management, Talent Acquisition, HR Information Systems and Total Rewards.
- Partner with HR Generalists and Assistants to facilitate the seamless execution of core HR functions, serving as a point of escalation and quality assurance for services like onboarding, benefits administration, leave & absence management and employee data management.
- Partner with HR Specialists to leverage their deep subject matter expertise in the design, development, and successful implementation of HR solutions tailored to the unique challenges and goals of the business.
- Provide counsel, coaching, and guidance to leaders on a comprehensive range of HR matters including, but not limited to, talent acquisition strategies, effective performance management, compensation practices, employee development programs, and retention strategies.
- Collaborate proactively with leadership teams to develop, articulate, and implement HR strategies, plans, and initiatives that directly support departmental and organizational business objectives, specifically addressing challenges and evolving workforce demographics.
- Partner closely with the Manager, Human Resources to execute key departmental initiatives and provide comprehensive HR support across various priorities, ensuring alignment with overall HR strategy. Advance our HR operating model including increasing Self Service and Informed Assistance. In addition, advancing our design from function to hybrid Centers of Expertise and Shared Services model.
- Lead and manage a diverse portfolio of critical HR projects and strategic initiatives (e.g., Workday enhancements and optimizations, re-engineering of core HR processes, development and rollout of organizational development programs, execution of comprehensive change management efforts) from initial conception through to successful completion and post-implementation review.
- Champion and drive the successful adoption of HR technology changes and other critical process improvements, developing and executing targeted communication strategies and training plans to effectively support employees and leaders through periods of transition.
- Collect, analyze, and interpret HR metrics and workforce data (e.g., turnover rates, employee engagement scores, recruitment cycle times, demographic trends) to identify actionable insights, diagnose potential or existing issues, and recommend data-driven solutions and interventions to leadership.
- Interpret and guide leadership and employees on the application of HR policies, procedures, and best practices, ensuring consistency in application, alignment with Salinas Valley Health's values, and adherence to all legal and regulatory requirements.
- Develop comprehensive and actionable project plans, defining project scope, clear objectives, realistic timelines, necessary resources, budgets, and risk mitigation strategies for all assigned HR projects.
- Rigorously track project progress against established milestones, proactively manage changes to project scope and schedule, identify and resolve emerging issues and roadblocks, and provide regular, transparent status updates to HR leadership and key project stakeholders.
- Work extensively and cross-functionally with a wide array of stakeholders across Salinas Valley Health, including Information Technology, Accounting, clinical and operational departments, and HR shared services, to ensure robust project alignment, optimal resource allocation, and the successful integration of project deliverables into existing workflows.
- This pivotal role will provide 'chief of staff' style support to the HR Manager, encompassing proactive coordination of key activities, and adaptable assistance across all necessary areas to ensure the HR Manager's effectiveness and the successful execution of departmental goals.

Education: Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Healthcare Administration, or a closely related field from an accredited college or university is required. Master's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration (MBA), Healthcare Administration (MHA), or a related field is preferred.
Licensure: SHRM, HRCI or equivalent HR certification preferred. Project Management Professional (PMP) or similar project management certification is preferred.
Experience: Five (5) years of progressive Human Resources experience, with a clearly demonstrated track record of success in both HR business partnering and project management. Leadership experience is highly preferred. Experience managing complex Employee/Labor Relations, Self-Funded Health Plans and Leave & Absence Management is preferred. Workday experience is preferred.
Essential Technical/Motor Skills: Experience with Human Resources Information Systems (HRIS), such as Workday or other comparable enterprise systems, and a proven ability to leverage HR data for insightful reporting and informed decision-making.
Interpersonal Skills: Demonstrated experience in successfully leading and implementing a range of HR projects, including but not limited to HR technology rollouts, process improvement initiatives, or significant organizational change efforts. Experience working effectively and collaboratively with leaders at various levels within an organization, from front-line managers to senior leadership.
Pay Range: The target salary for this position is $130k - $160k annual salary.
