Description:

SUMMARY

Under the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) Epidemiology and Laboratory Capacity (ELC) cooperative agreement, Heluna Health, and the Division of Communicable Disease Control (DCDC) of the California Department of Public Health (CDPH), recruiting for a Respiratory Virus Surveillance Coordinator/ Epidemiologist for the Clinical Epidemiology Section of the COVID Control Branch (CCB).

The CCB provides scientific leadership on SARS-CoV-2 and bridges surveillance of other respiratory viruses to inform public health decision-making and action. Founded in 2023 and building on lessons learned through the CDPH COVID-19 response, our Branch utilizes genomic epidemiology, wastewater surveillance and forecasting, in addition to traditional disease surveillance methods, to monitor respiratory virus disease activity in California. CCB is also poised to support other respiratory outbreaks as they emerge. The Respiratory Virus Surveillance Coordinator will combine epidemiological expertise, data analytics skills, and project management capabilities to guide decision-making and improve public health interventions. This role involves data-driven projects, overseeing complex analyses, maintaining dashboards, and aligning multidisciplinary teams to enhance statewide surveillance efforts.

Incumbent will collaborate with local health departments, healthcare facilities, and external stakeholders, to contribute to the CCB’s mission of monitoring respiratory virus disease activity through traditional surveillance methods and collaborate with several multidisciplinary CDPH teams as well as other internal and external partners.

Applicants must submit a cover letter and resume to be considered and provide 2-3 professional references.

Salary range: $82, 000 to $110, 000 annually depending on experience/qualifications
