Description:

SUMMARY

California’s Microbial Diseases Laboratory is responsible for diagnostics, education, and applied research programs for identification, surveillance, control, and prevention of bacterial, mycobacterial, fungal, and parasitic diseases originating in humans.

The Laboratory Support Analyst will support cross-cutting laboratory activities within the Microbial Diseases Laboratory, including managing and tracking ELC supply orders, triaging internal specimen transfers between laboratories and requesting specimens from laboratories for public health testing, cross-training on LIMS accessioning and queries, providing outreach and liaison support to submitters/local laboratory partners, and gathering and compiling data for grant-related reports.

The salary range is $23.00 – $30.57 per hour depending on experience and qualifications.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Provides support to assist with laboratory inquiries and timely triage of inquiries to appropriate contacts, including monitoring the general group email and phone inquiries.
  • Assist with triage of send-out laboratory reports, especially from the Centers for Disease Control or other send-out partners.
  • Facilitate communication and reporting of laboratory information to internal and external epidemiologists / communicable disease investigators.
  • Communicate with laboratory submitters to gather or clarify submission information to facilitate appropriate and timely testing
  • Assist with customer support and education and outreach efforts
  • Assist with user management and monitoring of the Electronic Test Ordering and Reporting (ETOR) system, as requested
  • Provide submission instructions to submitters and facilitate internal transfer of specimens for appropriate testing.
  • Effectively communicates with internal and external partners to gather or share information.
  • Assist with updating forms and documents, as assigned
  • Provide support for managing users and document uploads into document management systems.
  • Assists with procurement and placing orders for cross-cutting items.
  • Compiles information needed for grant deliverables or quality performance metrics.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

Education/Experience

  • Possession of a Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university preferred but not required.
  • Two years of experience providing administrative support, including inventory and ordering, customer service, data gathering and entry, creating and managing documents and files, and managing/triaging inquiries and other requests.
  • Experience working in a laboratory environment preferred
