SUMMARY
The Data & Analytics Unit is responsible for collecting, analyzing, and interpreting healthcare data to support decision-making and optimize resource use across the Los Angeles County Department of Health Services (DHS). The unit manages patient care and operational data, using analytics to identify patterns, predict outcomes, and improve service delivery. The unit also ensures data integrity, data governance, and regulatory compliance.
The Information Technology Specialist I with a Data Analytics Specialization supports a variety of departmental initiatives, with specialized technical expertise in the design, implementation, and maintenance of enterprise data governance practices. The role will focus on establishing, maintaining, and applying data governance practices that support accurate, consistent, and reliable analytics and reporting across the organization. Requires performing highly complex data analysis to support standardized data definitions and documentation within a Data & Analytics unit. The Information Technology Specialist I will produce data governance strategies, maintain data governance standards, and support department-wide projects to enhance efficiency and effectiveness.

The ideal candidate for the Information Technology Specialist I – Data Analytics Specialization should possess 7+ years of advanced technical expertise with expertise in data governance, data quality, metadata management, and data documentation. The Information Technology Specialist I – Data Analytics Specialization is responsible for producing data governance procedures such as standardized data elements. The role involves close collaboration with data stewards and business stakeholders to deliver data governance solutions that align with organizational goals.
They should have experience leading data-driven initiatives, developing data governance strategies, and collaboration with cross-functional teams to deliver standards that support enterprise goals. The candidate should be proficient in advanced analytics tools and technologies, with a deep understanding of data governance, security, and compliance. Strong communication, problem-solving, and analytical skills are essential to drive collaboration across departments, influence decision-making, and ensure alignment with organizational priorities.
