Description:

The Restorative Nursing Assistant aids professional and technical nursing personnel by accomplishing a variety of duties and procedures which are directly related to patient care. Provides direct restorative care and delegated therapy tasks including PROM and active ROM, ambulating, special positioning techniques, splints, assistive feeding devices/adaptive equipment, ADL training, bowel and bladder management, restorative dining, and bladder retraining. Additional duties include taking and recording vital signs, assisting patients with hygiene and elimination, ensuring the safety of the patient, and maintaining a clean and safe unit environment. Will assist with stocking unit supplies, operating hospital equipment as directed, performing routine clerical tasks, and assisting with other related duties as assigned. Focuses on optimal improvement of the resident's physical, mental, and psychosocial well-being.Southern California Hospital at Culver City has been taking care of generations of Culver City and west LA residents. Now at 420 beds, SCH-CC is a general acute care hospital that utilizes many of the latest medical treatments and technologies. The hospital offers a wide range of inpatient and outpatient acute care services, including an orthopedic center, cardiovascular services, acute rehabilitation, sub-acute care, psychiatric care and chemical dependency programs. Additionally, SCH-CC operates a 24-hour emergency services center, which serves as a paramedic receiving station and is staffed by board-certified emergency physicians and nurse specialists. \n

Minimum Experience: Six (6) months of experience as a Certified Nursing Assistant required. Understanding of basic medical terminology. Must be able to read, write and communicate effectively in English. Must demonstrate customer service skills appropriate to the job. Bilingual skills to communicate effectively with patients and families preferred

Req. Certification/Licensure: Certified Nursing Assistant and Restorative Nursing Assistant Certification required. AHA Basic Life Support required. Hospital Fire and Life Safety Card (Los Angeles City Employees only) required.
  • Provides direct restorative care and delegated therapy tasks including PROM and active ROM, ambulating, special positioning techniques, splints, assistive feeding devices/adaptive equipment, ADL training, bowel and bladder management, restorative dining, and bladder retraining. Monitors and keeps track of changes in residents and patients under restorative nursing care, and accurately documents as required.
  • Assists patients with hygiene, elimination, routine skin care, comfort measures and other Activities of Daily Living (ADL), in consideration of patient age, gender, culture and stated preferences, maintaining patient privacy and respect at all times. Assumes responsibility for maintaining a clean and safe environment. Ensures Infection Control procedures and HIPAA compliance.
  • Assists in providing restorative care to residents and patients as directed by licensed nurse, including turning and positioning, and patient transportation. Receives and accurately inventories and secures patient belongings as appropriate.
  • Actively engages in caring behaviors, taking conscious ownership for work and takes a proactive, deliberate, and thoughtful actions regarding work activities. Demonstrates appropriate use of independent judgement and decision making.
