Description:

The Cardiac Cath Tech is responsible for assisting with direct patient care activities in a variety of Cath Lab procedures. Prepares and stocks the Cath Lab before and after procedures, gathers clean and sterile supplies, sets sterile instrument fields, maintains and monitors aseptic techniques. Assists with proper positioning of patient while maintaining the privacy and dignity of the patient.Southern California Hospital at Culver City has been taking care of generations of Culver City and west LA residents. We are a full-service, acute care hospital with a 24/7 emergency department and nationally recognized patient safety. Now at 420 beds, SCH-CC is a general acute care hospital that utilizes many of the latest medical treatments and technologies. The hospital offers a wide range of inpatient and outpatient acute care services, including an orthopedic center, cardiovascular services, acute rehabilitation, sub-acute care, psychiatric care and chemical dependency programs. Additionally, SCH-CC operates a 24-hour emergency services center, which serves as a paramedic receiving station and is staffed by board-certified emergency physicians and nurse specialists. \n

Minimum Experience: Ability to read, write and communicate effectively in English. Ability to maintain a work pace appropriate to the workload. Must demonstrate customer service skills appropriate to the job. One (1) year recent experience in an acute care facility preferred. Bilingual skills to communicate effectively with patients and families preferred.

Req. Certification/Licensure: Current Licensure as Radiologic Technologist in the State of California required. Fluoroscopy license/certification required. AHA Basic Life Support required. Hospital Fire and Life Safety Card (Los Angeles City Employees only).
  • Creates and maintains the sterile field, and initiates corrective action when breaks occur. Appropriately assisting with patient treatments, turning and positioning as needed. Ensures Cardiac Cath Lab environment is safe; maintains patient privacy, room temperature and humidity. Participates in and ensures time out and pre and post count processes are observed. Demonstrates awareness of potential discomfort or injury; recognizes critical deviations in patient condition and takes appropriate action including intervening in situations where basic life support systems are threatened. Ensures Infection Control procedures and HIPPA compliance.
  • Under the supervision of a licensed care provider, mixes and labels medications on the sterile field. Effectively determines patient needs based on age-specific criteria. Applies radiation safety practices such as the ALARA (As Low As Reasonably Achievable) model sparing exposure whenever possible and providing adequate shielding.
  • Ensures proper functioning, care, and use of clinical equipment and supplies. Performs quality checks and troubleshooting, and understands relationships between various equipment and the age related needs. Orients and trains others on the appropriate instrument/equipment use.
  • Disposes of all waste, sharps and specimens appropriately. Demonstrates knowledge of environment of care and safety, including Cath Lab emergencies.
  • Actively engages in caring behaviors, taking conscious ownership for work and takes a proactive, deliberate, and thoughtful actions regarding work activities. Demonstrates appropriate use of independent judgement and decision making. Demonstrates excellent customer service at all times. Ensure patients privacy and dignity at all times
