Certified Dietary Manager (CDM) to lead our Dietary Department. This is a great opportunity for a strong leader who is passionate about nutrition, resident satisfaction, and maintaining high standards in a skilled nursing environment.
General PurposeThe Dietary Director oversees all aspects of the dietary department, including meal planning, food preparation, and service delivery. This role ensures that meals are safe, nutritious, and tailored to meet each resident's individual needs in accordance with physician orders, approved menus, and regulatory standards. The Director is responsible for staff management, budget oversight, and collaboration with other departments to support resident health and satisfaction.

- Direct and participate in the preparation and service of meals that are safe, appetizing, and meet prescribed dietary needs.
- Ensure food quality, portion control, and compliance with approved menus and physician orders.
- Manage department budget, control costs, and oversee ordering of food and supplies.
- Plan and coordinate special meals for holidays and facility events.
- Hire, train, supervise, and evaluate dietary staff; manage scheduling and staffing needs.
- Ensure compliance with all food safety, storage, and handling regulations.
- Process new diet orders and maintain accurate diet cards and resident records.
- Assess resident food preferences, allergies, and nutritional risks; complete monthly nutritional documentation.
- Maintain a clean, safe, and sanitary kitchen and storage environment.
- Conduct routine inspections of the dietary department for safety and cleanliness.
- Collaborate with nursing, activities, and interdisciplinary teams to ensure resident needs are met.
- Participate in Quality Assurance (QA) and Interdisciplinary Team (IDT) meetings.
- Provide in-service training and ongoing education to dietary staff.
- Investigate workplace incidents and implement corrective actions as needed.
- Maintain confidentiality of resident information and ensure compliance with HIPAA.
- Conduct resident rounds to assess satisfaction and nutritional needs.
- Communicate with the Dietitian regarding menu changes and dietary needs.
Supervisory RequirementsResponsible for the overall supervision and management of dietary staff, including scheduling, training, performance evaluations, and ensuring compliance with facility policies and regulatory standards.
QualificationsEducation and/or Experience- Must be a Certified Dietary Manager (CDM) or graduate of an approved dietary manager's course meeting state and federal regulations.
- Minimum of one (1) year experience in a long-term care dietary department preferred.
- Knowledge of PointClickCare (PCC) preferred.
- Must maintain required continuing education and certifications.
- Must remain in good standing with the Department of Public Health, Licensing and Certification Division.
Physical Demands- Frequent standing, walking, reaching, pushing, and pulling.
- Occasional sitting, climbing, stooping, kneeling, and crawling.
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
- Frequent talking, hearing, tasting, and smelling.
- Vision abilities include close, distance, color, peripheral, and depth perception.
