Heel Boom Forestry Equipment Operator - Northern California Are you an experienced heavy equipment operator with a passion for working outdoors? Join our team as a Forestry Equipment Operator, where you'll use your skills to safely and efficiently handle specialized equipment in forestry and logging operations across Northern California. About Us Founded in 1980, J.W. Bamford is a trusted leader in logging, forestry, and disaster recovery services throughout Northern California. We work with communities and agencies to manage forests, build access roads, and restore lands affected by wildfires. As a family-owned company, we value safety, teamwork, and dedication. Pay $25.00 - $35.00/hour, based on experience and responsibilities. Schedule Full-time. Travel required up to 75% of the time within Northern California. Key Responsibilities Seeking an experienced Heel Boom Operator. Also able to operate and maintain heavy forestry equipment such as Feller Bunchers, Processor-Stroker De-Limber, 325 Heel Boom, Front End Loaders, Rubber Tire Skidders, CAT 527, and attachments. Perform selective tree thinning, segmenting and grading felled trees using chainsaws, tape measures, and lumber crayons. Inspect equipment daily, ensuring safe operation (fluids, safety devices, attachments). Troubleshoot and perform minor repairs on heavy equipment and small engines. Follow supervisor work orders and maintain safe, organized job sites. Conduct site safety assessments, accounting for terrain, weather, utilities, and other hazards. Assist with other job site operations as needed, including chainsaw work and maintenance tasks. Travel and work overtime as needed. Qualifications 2-5 years of experience operating heavy forestry equipment Strong mechanical skills and ability to perform equipment troubleshooting and maintenance. Valid driver's license with a clean 5-year record. Ability to work outdoors in challenging conditions and uneven terrain. Safety-oriented mindset, good judgment, and strong communication skills. High school diploma or equivalent preferred. Graduate of College or Vocational Heavy Equipment Operator Training Program. Military veterans are encouraged to apply. Must pass pre-employment drug screening. Physical Requirements Ability to safely mount/dismount and operate heavy equipment for extended periods. Work in outdoor environments with exposure to all weather conditions, dust, and loud noise. Walk on uneven terrain and lift up to 50 lbs. Maintain awareness of simultaneous site activities and hazards.
