Michael Baker International is actively seeking a dynamic and visionary Department Manager to lead our Transportation Practice in Santa Ana, California. Join a nationally ranked Top 20 transportation firm and help shape the future of infrastructure across the state.

You’ll be at the forefront of delivering smart, sustainable transportation solutions for clients like Caltrans and local agencies.

  • Lead a team of engineers and designers on roadway and state highway projects for state and local agencies.
  • Manage project delivery schedules, budgets, and high quality standards.
  • Build and maintain strong client relationships, including with Caltrans, local agencies, and regulatory agencies.
  • Drive strategic growth through business development efforts, including client pre-positioning, proposals, and interviews.
  • Actively represent Michael Baker in professional organizations and industry events.
  • Participate in ongoing strategic positioning for major roadway and highway project opportunities.
  • Manage client relationships and guide the application of Michael Baker International services within the Transportation practice area to best serve the interests of the client and Michael Baker International.
  • Be responsible for successful contracting and project execution, working closely with national, regional, and office leaders within Michael Baker international.

PROFESSIONAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering
  • CA PE (Civil) license required.
  • 15+ years of transportation/public works experience.
  • Strong leadership, mentoring, and project management skills.
  • Experience with Caltrans standards and design-build projects is a plus.
  • Excellent communication and proposal writing abilities.
  • Passion for innovation and growing a high-performing team.

COMPENSATION

The salary range for this position is up to $275, 000. This will be dependent on the experience and expertise of the incoming candidate.
