Activities Assistant (Part-Time)
Linwood Meadows Care Center - Visalia, CA
Pay Range: $17.00 - $19.00 per hour (DOE)

Linwood Meadows Care Center is seeking an energetic, creative, and compassionate Activities Assistant to join our team. The Activities Assistant helps provide meaningful activities and programs that support the physical, mental, and psychosocial well-being of our residents in a skilled nursing environment.
General Purpose

The primary purpose of the Activities Assistant is to assist the Activities Director in planning, organizing, and implementing a creative and interactive activities program in accordance with current federal, state, local, and facility guidelines to ensure an ongoing program that meets the individual interests and needs of each resident.
Essential Duties

Every effort has been made to identify the essential functions of this position; however, this does not imply that these are the only duties you will be required to perform.
  • Assist in planning and conducting individual, small group, and large group activities.
  • Encourage residents to participate in activities, hobbies, crafts, games, and social programs.
  • Assist in developing and maintaining the monthly activity calendar.
  • Maintain attendance records for all activities and programs.
  • Assist with resident assessments, quarterly progress notes, and activity care plans as directed by the Activities Director.
  • Participate in discharge planning and interdisciplinary care planning meetings as requested.
  • Assist in arranging transportation for resident outings, appointments, and community events.
  • Provide in-room activities for residents who are bed-bound or unable to attend group activities.
  • Help coordinate and supervise resident outings and special events.
  • Maintain good communication with residents, families, staff, and community organizations.
  • Assist the Quality Assurance Committee with activity-related plans of correction if requested.
  • Keep the Activities Department clean, organized, and secured.
  • Assist with decorating the facility for holidays and special events.
  • Support residents' emotional and social needs through positive interaction and engagement.
  • Follow all facility policies and procedures and maintain resident confidentiality at all times.
Supervisory Requirements

This position does not have supervisory responsibilities.
Qualifications
Education and/or Experience
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • One year of experience in a long-term care facility preferred but not required.
Language Skills
  • Ability to read and understand technical procedures and policy manuals.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with residents, families, staff, and supervisors.
Mathematical Skills
  • Ability to apply basic mathematical concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions.
Reasoning Ability
  • Ability to solve practical problems and interpret instructions furnished in written, oral, or schedule form.
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations
  • None required.
Physical Demands

The essential functions of this position require the following physical abilities:
  • Standing and/or walking frequently.
  • Sitting occasionally.
  • Reaching with hands and arms frequently.
  • Pushing and pulling frequently.
  • Talking and hearing frequently.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds frequently.
  • Occasional climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, or crawling.
  • Vision abilities include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
Work Environment
