Summary

The Bell Attendant is the first impression at the La Jolla Beach & Tennis Club with our Club members, apartment guests, and other visitors. This individual must possess strong customer service skills and consistently provide professional, attentive and genuinely friendly service. The Bell Attendant helps ensure overall member and guest satisfaction by solving problems quickly and efficiently. This person must also have the ability to provide concise and accurate directions and protect the properties from entry by unauthorized persons. Promotes and follows LJBTC, Inc.’s Signature Service standards and requirements ensuring a lasting impression of exemplary service resulting in supremely satisfied and loyal members and guests.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Provides quality service that meets or exceeds expectations by anticipating member and guest needs, always maintaining a polite, friendly, professional demeanor.
  • Assists guests and members with directions and instructions, as needed, to area and regional visitor attractions.
  • Communicates with other department staff and officers via the radio.
  • Uses Voice Mail, Pagers and 2-way Radio communication at appropriate times.
  • Uses ten codes to communicate via radio to other security officers and staff.
  • Attends regularly scheduled department meetings.
  • Records data such as unusual occurrences.
  • Reads and understands the Parking Log and makes relevant entries.
  • Refers complaints of service failures to designated departments for investigation and follow up.
  • Responsible for accurate shift closing reports and procedures.
  • Follows up on all outstanding guest assistance requests.
  • Maintains knowledge of current room types, rate structures and features.
  • Is familiar with all facilities and their hours of operation.
  • Is familiar with local events.
  • Coordinates packages with vendors and guests.
  • Maintains a close and professional relationship with all departments.
  • Completes any reasonable request from a manager that the employee is capable of performing.
  • Prepares daily, weekly, monthly and other reports.
  • Treats all guests and employees with respect, dignity and courtesy.
  • Must drive a company vehicle, a valid California Driver's License is required.
  • Other duties as may be assigned.

Pay Rate: $19.75 Hourly

Availability: Open availability required. Must be able to work weekends and Holidays.

OUTCOME

The Bell person position is the guests’ initial point of contact and will strongly influence guest impression of the total organization. Prompt and continuous efficient service will contribute to guest comfort and satisfaction.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

Less than high school education; or up to one-month related experience or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

LANGUAGE SKILLS

Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in English to customers, clients, members, guests, and other employees of the organization.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.

REASONING ABILITY

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.

INTERACTION

Employees in this position interact daily with guests and other front desk personnel. This position also interacts frequently with engineering, housekeeping and security. Employees must have the ability to communicate effectively and work with these departments as well as other designated internal and external customers.

SCHEDULING

This company operates seven days a week, 24 hours a day. Shifts will generally be rotated unless you were hired for a specific shift, as much as possible to be fair to everyone. At times it may be necessary to move you from your accustomed shift if business or task assignments demand. In addition, it should be understood that business needs determine the number of hours that you work.
