Pay Range: $17.48-$17.58/hour

General Purpose

The Housekeeper is responsible for maintaining a clean, safe, orderly environment throughout the facility, free of obstacles and odors, in accordance with facility standards and infection control guidelines.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities
  • Maintain cleanliness of public and common areas throughout the day, including lobby, restrooms, drinking fountains, and floors
  • Clean and maintain resident rooms and bathrooms
  • Clean handrails and ensure they are free of debris
  • Remove dust, dirt, and food from walls, mirrors, windows, light fixtures, towel bars, and dispensers
  • Empty trash cans and replace liners
  • Sweep, mop, and maintain floors
  • Use proper safety measures when cleaning, including caution signage and safe chemical storage
  • Keep supplies and chemicals out of reach of residents
  • Use housekeeping supplies and equipment safely and according to instructions
  • Maintain housekeeping carts, equipment, and storage areas in a clean, safe, and orderly manner
  • Notify the Director of Housekeeping, Administrator, or Director of Nursing immediately regarding resident safety concerns
  • Notify the Director of Housekeeping when supplies need to be replenished
  • Provide excellent customer service with a positive attitude
  • Manage time effectively and complete assigned tasks in a timely manner
  • Work independently and as part of a team


Supervisory Requirements

This position does not have supervisory responsibilities.

Qualifications
Education & Experience
  • High school diploma or GED required
  • Previous housekeeping or long-term care facility experience preferred
Skills & Abilities
  • Ability to read and understand procedures, instruction manuals, and directions
  • Basic math skills, including addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division
  • Ability to solve practical problems and seek assistance when needed
  • Strong time-management skills
  • Excellent customer service skills and positive attitude
  • Ability to work independently or with a team
  • Fluent in written and spoken English


Physical Demands
  • Ability to occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds
  • Regular sitting, kneeling, standing, walking, talking, reading, and hearing
  • Daily use of housekeeping supplies and equipment
  • Some use of office-related equipment, including copier, scanner, fax, telephone, and calculator
  • May assist during emergency situations as needed
