Job Description:

Johnson & Johnson MedTech is currently recruiting for a Senior Manager, Americas, Communications and Public Affairs, Surgical Vision. The position can be based in Irvine, CA or Jacksonville, FL.

Position Summary:

The Senior Manager, Americas Communications and Public Affairs, Surgical Vision will lead the communications for the Surgical Vision business in the U.S. and Canada and provide support to Latin America. The person in this role will develop and execute strategic communication and social media plans to drive awareness, demand, and reputation for the surgical portfolio among various stakeholders. They will also manage organizational and executive communications for the North America Vice President and support the Canadian Surgical Vision leadership team. This role will report to the Director, Global Communications & Public Affairs, Americas, Vision.

Responsibilities:

  • Partner closely with the U.S. and Canada marketing teams to develop earned communications and social media to drive awareness and demand for our products and services; actively find opportunities for PR to augment existing marketing plans
  • Oversee press officer in handling all product-related communications with North America media, including proactive trade and consumer media outreach and responding to media inquiries
  • Develop and execute external and internal communications plans for J& J’s presence at major ophthalmology meetings, including product and data presentations and social media, and support of executive remarks
  • Lead the development of internal and organizational communications plans for the North America Vice President, organizational changes and announcements.
  • Help manage the reputation and equity of our Surgical Vision product brands (e.g., TECNIS, TearScience) through the anticipation and management of issues
  • Support the implementation of the Global Vision CSR strategy by collaborating with the MedTech Global Health Equity Team and cataract surgery partner NGOs
  • Partner with global communications colleagues, including other regional communicators, global communicators, and internal communications team to highlight and showcase North Americas brand activations, organizational news and leadership communications
  • Collaborate with J& J MedTech, J& J enterprise, and other regional and sector colleagues to drive broad awareness and impact of communications strategies

Required:

  • Minimum of a bachelor’s degree
  • Minimum of 8 years of experience in communications
  • A career with a focus on branded PR campaigns, media relations and issues management, and organizational communications
  • Experience working with social media and/or digital
  • Prior work in medical device, pharmaceutical, biotechnology, or consumer health fields
  • Experience in delivering measurable business outcomes for consumer-facing PR programs
  • Experience counseling senior leaders on business opportunities, communications objectives, strategy and message
  • Experience managing branded PR campaigns
  • Experience working in a matrix environment and driving results through influence
  • Demonstrates expert judgment in launching new products and is sought after as an expert
  • Experience managing multiple priorities in a fast-paced and matrix environment
  • Demonstrated ability to oversee agency partners
  • Demonstrated ability to navigate ambiguous situations
  • The position will require up to 10% domestic travel

The anticipated base pay range for this position is:

120, 000 - 207, 000

Additional Description for Pay Transparency:

The Company maintains highly competitive, performance-based compensation programs. Under current guidelines, this position is eligible for an annual performance bonus in accordance with the terms of the applicable plan. The annual performance bonus is a cash bonus intended to provide an incentive to achieve annual targeted results by rewarding for individual and the corporation’s performance over a calendar/performance year. Bonuses are awarded at the Company’s discretion on an individual basis. Employees and/or eligible dependents may be eligible to participate in the following Company sponsored employee benefit programs: medical, dental, vision, life insurance, short- and long-term disability, business accident insurance, and group legal insurance. Employees may be eligible to participate in the Company’s consolidated retirement plan (pension) and savings plan (401(k)). This position is eligible to participate in the Company’s long-term incentive program. Employees are eligible for the following time off benefits: Vacation – up to 120 hours per calendar year Sick time - up to 40 hours per calendar year; for employees who reside in the State of Washington – up to 56 hours per calendar year Holiday pay, including Floating Holidays – up to 13 days per calendar year of Work, Personal and Family Time - up to 40 hours per calendar year
