Position Summary

The Regional Business Director (RBD) is responsible for leading and strategically guiding the sales execution of the organization's products/programs in the assigned region and/or geographical area. As a proven leader, the RBD must be a seasoned sales professional with a strong understanding of the customer’s business, industry, economic model, industry trends and customer needs. The RBD must be able to conceptualize, develop, plan and execute a comprehensive business strategy that develops customer solutions across various customers in a constantly evolving marketplace. Fosters a motivating team environment passionate about success, development, and accountability. Responsible for region budget, maximizing sales, and return on investment. Must adhere to environmental policy and procedures and supports department environmental objectives.

Key Responsibilities

  • Strategically lead a team of District Business Managers and Application Sales Managers who will call on Eye Care Professionals to support the use of Johnson & Johnsons Surgical portfolio of products within an assigned geographical region. End to end responsibility for full Cataract & Refractive selling org (Account Executives, Key Account Executives, Premium Practice Specialists, and Capital Specialists).
  • In addition to portfolio selling accountability, the RBD will oversee a segment of Private Equity (PE) to gain competitive business and maintain and grow current business with strategic accounts across the enterprise. Responsibilities include partnership with National Accounts, Corporate Accounts, Government Accounts, Strategic Partnerships, and Strategic Accounts.
  • Develop and execute business plans (including quota dispersion), customized to meet region needs, while aligning to company, franchise, and brand strategies, and delivers compliant product sales growth and volume objectives, as well as effectively addressing the unique needs of the regional marketplace.
  • Oversee the selection of new staff, and be responsible for motivating, coaching, developing, and retaining a diverse team of individuals who are technically able and who consistently execute the strategies of the business plan to deliver positive business results.
  • Use sales technology, data analytics, and commercial systems to optimize efficiency, planning and coordination of efforts.
  • Identify and coordinate resources, monitor operating expenses, and maintain key relationships essential to achieving growth and profitability targets, regardless of market conditions.
  • Elevate the sales team to a high performance, outcomes-focused, organization where diversity and inclusion are valued, and where the team’s skills, knowledge, and abilities continually evolve to meet future needs.
  • Demonstrated track record as a talent champion in coaching, developing, retaining, acquiring, and building a diverse pipeline of future talent.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of a bachelor’s degree is required; a MBA is strongly preferred.
  • Minimum of 10 years healthcare commercial experience is required, medical device sales experience is preferred.
  • Minimum of 5 years experience managing and leading a team is required.
  • Sales leadership experience within the field of ophthalmology is an asset.
  • Medical device capital equipment and disposable sales experience is preferred.
  • Diverse commercial cross functional experience including, but not limited to Strategic Marketing, Training, Professional Education and/or Corporate Accounts is highly preferred.
  • Thorough knowledge and understanding of sales applications and principles, as well as excellent interpersonal, written and oral communication skills are required.
  • The ability to travel up to 50%, which may include overnights and/or weekend travel, is required.
  • A valid driver's license issued in the United States is required.
  • The ability to reside within the Western Region US, along with living in close proximity to a major airport, is required.

The anticipated base pay range for this position is $146, 000 to $251, 850.

The Company maintains highly competitive, performance-based compensation programs. Under current guidelines, this position is eligible for an annual performance bonus in accordance with the terms of the applicable plan. The annual performance bonus is a cash bonus intended to provide an incentive to achieve annual targeted results by rewarding for individual and the corporation’s performance over a calendar/performance year. Bonuses are awarded at the Company’s discretion on an individual basis.

  • Holiday pay, including Floating Holidays – up to 13 days per calendar year.
  • Work, Personal and Family Time - up to 40 hours per calendar year.
