Job Responsibilities:
  • Develop and implement effective treatment plans, securing necessary approvals from referring physicians.
  • Administer treatments as per the physician's prescribed plan.
  • Assist the nursing department in training Restorative Aides.
  • Supervise Occupational Therapy Assistants in patient care and related activities, adhering to state practice acts.
  • Communicate with supervisors and healthcare team members regarding patient progress, challenges, and plans.
  • Participate in Patient Care Conferences, Utilization Review meetings, and Rehabilitation Conferences as required.
  • Engage in in-service training programs for facility staff.
  • Maintain accurate documentation of evaluations, daily treatment notes, weekly progress notes, and recertification documentation, complying with Occupational Therapy Board State Practice Act, governmental, and third-party payer requirements.
  • Record treatment changes in accordance with policy and procedures.
  • Educate patients' families or nursing staff on maintenance programs and provide caregiver training for discharge preparation.
  • Assist in discharge planning by recommending and facilitating the ordering of necessary durable medical equipment (e.g., braces, walkers, canes, elevated toilet seats, grab bars) to enhance patient mobility and independence.
  • Report any issues with departmental equipment to ensure it is maintained in optimal working condition.


Required License or Certification:
  • Valid Occupational Therapy License
