Job Summary:

The Systems Engineering Manager leads and supports engineering and technical development projects. The position will interact with all levels within Globalstar and external vendors.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

Oversee the team of Systems Engineers.

Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Define systems engineering requirements and perform analysis to make sure system operates within the constraints imposed by technical and business factors.
  • Run system performance analysis.
  • Provide and coordinate engineering support for the development of new products and services. Assume the technical management of projects as assigned.
  • Provide systems engineering support to other groups to work with external vendors.
  • Team with Gateway, Satellite and Product engineering functions with respect to the systems engineering aspects of new system deployment.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

Skills and Competencies:

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to interact clearly and concisely with all departments and levels of management
  • Excellent organizational skills with attention-to-detail
  • Ability to meet multiple deadlines in a fast-paced environment
  • Ability to effectively manage time and prioritize tasks
  • Ability to act with integrity, professionalism, and confidentiality
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office
  • Familiarity with NetSuite
  • Strong problem-solving skills, especially under time constraints
  • Outstanding time management skills with the ability to multi-task and prioritize
  • Ability to identify and seek needed information
  • Hands on technical problem-solving skills
  • Experience with test equipment like Spectrum analyzer, Network analyzer etc.
  • Experience with large scale satellite system integration and testing execution
  • Ability to guide team of systems engineers for technical or any other issues faced by the team.

Education, Experience, and Licenses/Certifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or related Engineering degree
  • Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering with specialization in wireless communication preferred
  • Candidate must have at least 20+ years of experience in systems engineering – with at least 10 in a wireless environment – with an emphasis on modern communication systems. A background in satellite systems is required.

Physical Requirements:

  • Willingness and ability to travel as needed
  • Willingness and ability to work after regularly scheduled hours as needed
  • Ability to sit at a desk for prolonged periods working on a computer (4 to 8 hours)
  • Ability to operate the equipment used for the job
  • Ability to lift 15 pounds at times
