Physical Therapy Aide to support our rehabilitation team. This position assists the Physical Therapist and Physical Therapist Assistant in providing therapy services to residents in our skilled nursing facility. The ideal candidate is team-oriented, organized, and passionate about helping residents regain strength, mobility, and independence.
General PurposeThe Physical Therapy Aide assists the therapy department with resident care activities and departmental operations under the direction of the Physical Therapist. This role supports therapy treatments, maintains the therapy department and equipment, and assists with documentation and communication regarding resident progress.
Essential Duties- Assist the Physical Therapist and Physical Therapist Assistant in treating residents as directed.
- Provide support during therapy treatments according to physician treatment plans.
- Record daily treatment notes and assist with weekly progress notes according to therapy department policies and PT Board standards.
- Participate in patient care and rehabilitation conferences as needed.
- Communicate with supervising therapists and other healthcare team members regarding resident progress, concerns, and care plans.
- Assist with cleaning, organization, and maintenance of the therapy department and treatment areas.
- Ensure therapy equipment is clean and maintained in good working order; report any equipment concerns promptly.
- Assist the nursing department with training and support of restorative aides when directed by therapy staff.
- Document treatment changes according to facility policies and procedures.
- Assist with caregiver and family education programs in preparation for resident discharge from therapy services.
- Participate in facility in-service training programs and staff education.
- Maintain professional and positive relationships with residents, families, staff, and healthcare professionals.
Supervisory RequirementsThis position
does not have supervisory responsibilities.QualificationsEducation and Experience- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Previous experience in a rehabilitation setting or skilled nursing facility preferred.
- Familiarity with electronic medical record systems such as Casamba and PointClickCare is preferred.
Language Skills- Ability to read and understand technical procedures and policy manuals.
- Ability to effectively communicate with supervisors, coworkers, residents, and families.
Mathematical Skills- Ability to apply basic mathematical concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
Reasoning Ability- Ability to solve practical problems and interpret written, oral, diagram, or schedule-based instructions.

- Ability to exert up to 100 pounds occasionally, 50 pounds frequently, and 20 pounds constantly when assisting with equipment or resident mobility.

- Vision abilities including close, distance, peripheral, and depth perception with the ability to adjust focus.
