Pay/Benefits at a Glance: Pay range is between $23.00 - $29.35 per hour. The actual compensation will be determined based on experience and other factors permitted by law.This is an on-call position with variable hours. Availability will be required based on client, program, and operational needs. Fred Finch Youth & Family Services partners with individuals and communities to provide culturally responsive services that cultivate mental and physical resilience and wellness. The Fred Finch San Diego Dual Diagnosis Program is a 14-bed residential treatment facility located in Lemon Grove with a non-public school which includes integrated mental health treatment services. The program provides a safe, stable, and highly structured environment by combining intensive staffing, a milieu culture, mental health interventions, and behavior modification. What You Will Do: The Residential Counselor classification is responsible for independently performing counseling duties in support of residential and/or housing services. Positions at this level exercise judgment and initiative in their assigned tasks, receives continuous coaching and direction or assistance as new or unusual situations arise, and are fully aware of the operating procedures and policies of the residential program. Qualifications: Education: Have a Bachelor of Arts or Sciences Degree; Have a valid Child Development Teaching Permit; Have completed 12 semester units of Early Childhood Education, Adolescent Development, or Foster and Kinship Care Education and have at least 100 hours of experience working with youth; Have a valid certificate as an Alcohol Counselor, Drug Counselor or Alcohol and Drug Counselor, and have at least 100 hours of experience working with youth. Have a valid Vocational Training certificate, credential or documentation demonstrating that the individual is a trade journeyperson who instructs children in vocational skills and have at least 100 hours of experience working with youth; or Have previously been employed as a staff or volunteer at a group home or short-term residential therapeutic center for at least one year. Have relevant experience as determined by the department to meet any of the above requirements. Direct care staff shall be at least 21 years of age. Licenses and Certifications: Possession of a valid California Drivers License, a satisfactory driving record, and a properly registered and insured vehicle, to be maintained throughout employment.
