Description:

ERM is seeking an Environmental Health & Safety (EHS) Specialist to support at client facility and laboratories in San Jose/Milpitas CA. In this role, you will provide guidance on the implementation and functioning of corporate EHS programs and management systems including business continuity, social responsibility reporting issues, audit program management and compliance assurance throughout client facilities. This is a full-time, fixed-term hybrid position (3-5 days onsite) with a duration of 12 months and possibility of renewal.

Responsibilities:

  • Evaluate and provide guidance on client operations for compliance with EHS and other relevant requirements.
  • Provide technical resources and interpretations of EHS regulations to client and provide instruction regarding compliance activities.
  • Respond to requests for information regarding client EHS management systems.
  • Support client in liaison with local, state, and federal governmental EHS agencies.
  • Prepare local compliance documents, submittals, authorizations and regulatory submission and notifications as relevant to client operations when needed, as directed by client to comply with all local, state, and federal EHS regulatory requirements.
    • Examples include but are not limited to: US Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) Tier II/California hazardous material business plan (HMBP) chemical inventory and air emission reports, state registration of lab equipment such as x-ray devices, US EPA ID registrations, responses and corrective actions pertaining to regulatory inspections from Fire Departments and other local agencies; Waste Management Plan and Operation and Maintenance Manual (Canada); Annual OHS Safety committee reports to OHS Office (Costa Rica); RIDDOR HSE reports (UK); Document Unique (France),
  • Complete assigned EHS compliance calendar tasks, EHS actions plans, and tracking as specified within client system.
  • Collect information on the environmental and occupational health aspects of client facility operations such as chemical usage, storage, disposal, air emissions, hazardous waste management, electrical safety, indoor air quality, and occupational noise for reporting to client’s EHS Department.
  • Participate in the development and continual improvement of EHS compliance assurance programs such as Occupational Health and Safety Management Systems, Laboratory Safety, Hearing Conservation, Injury Illness Prevention Programs, and Contractor Safety. Raise awareness of such Programs to client employees and contractors.
  • Develop, review, and update accordingly EHS compliance training content for various locations such as risk assessment, manual handling, health and safety committee training, OHS management system, spill prevention, control, and counter-measures activities, laboratory safety management, chemical/hazardous waste handling, contractor safety and hearing conservation. Deliver such trainings as required by EHS Department.
  • Act as “appointed agent” for client EHS department during hazardous and universal waste pickup event from United States client facilities where ERM Regional staff are dedicated to being onsite and in conjunction with regulatory agency certified waste disposal vendors(s).
  • With confirmation from the relevant client EHS Theater Leads, act on behalf of client EHS when liaising with third parties such as insurance companies, competence vetting and pre-qualification agents, regulatory bodies, etc.
  • General assistance to the client EHS team: supporting CAPA tracking and closure, facilitating site access for other ERMers, etc

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s in environmental safety or similar is preferred. Master’s is a plus.
  • 3 to 8 years of experience in environmental permitting, EHS in lab environments, technology or data center safety management is desired.
  • DOT Hazmat Shipper training preferred.
  • California EHS permit administration

Pay Transparency:

For the Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) Specialist position, we anticipate the annual base pay of $84, 570-$124, 245, $40.00/hr – $59.73/hr USD, limited-term, non-exempt. An employee’s pay position within this range will be based on several factors including, but not limited to, relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, geographic location, performance, shift, travel requirements, sales or revenue-based metrics, and business or organizational needs. We also may have instances where employee’s fall outside of the range based on the factors noted above. This job may be eligible for bonus pay (casual and fixed term/Flexforce employees are NOT bonus eligible).
