Description:

The County of Riverside's Human Resources Temporary Assignment Program (TAP) seeks candidates to fill Temporary Parking Attendant I positions to support the Department of Facilities Management in Riverside.

Schedule:
Monday - Friday 9: 30 a.m. to 6: 30 p.m.

The ideal candidate will be:
  • Managing the traffic entering and exiting the parking structure
  • Assist visitors by offering parking information
  • Collect parking structure fees from visitors
  • Process all parking structure tickets through cash register (credit cards, validations, and vendor tickets).
  • Responsible for opening and closing parking structure and parking booth; lock/unlock all roll-up gates and pedestrian security doors/gates.
  • Ensure working operation of booth overhead lighting ("green light" must remain on during business hours); keep booth and surrounding area clean and free of debris.
  • Complete accident report, "First Contact Report", for all (vehicle/pedestrian) accidents that occur in the Parking Structure and report information to supervisor after completion of the accident report.
  • Report any unauthorized persons in or around buildings.
  • Ensure booth is secure upon exiting, secure window, and door locks.

The Parking Attendant series provides first-line customer service to internal and external clients relative to County parking structure facilities. Incumbents have the day-to-day responsibility for handling customer service operations of the parking booth within the parking structure. Additionally, incumbents will provide all visitors of the County parking structure facilities with parking information and instructions, including general information and assistance as requested.

Riverside County Department of Facilities Management provides property management and operations services for county owned and leased facilities throughout the 7, 200 square miles of Riverside County and over 14 million square feet of space. The department is responsible for keeping county buildings safe, comfortable, and productive for both county staff and the public.

The Temporary Assignment Program (TAP) recruits and hires temporary employees for all County departments. TAP assignments are a great way to learn about working for the County while working on a temporary, at-will basis.

• Collect parking structure fees from visitors; calculate totals and subtotals, supply correct change, place all cash in cash register; tally cash receipts at the end of the day.

• Process all parking structure tickets through cash register (e.g., cash, checks, validations, and vendor tickets).

• Accept monthly access-card check payments.

• Retrieve currency supply from administrative parking office; complete appropriate documentation for cash transfer; count all cash items and reconcile with cashiers report.

• Recount currency for verification, sign off on transfer slip and place in computerized cash register; follow appropriate daily safe deposit procedures.

• Responsible for opening and closing parking structure and parking booth; lock/unlock all roll-up gates and pedestrian security doors/gates.

• Ensure working operation of booth overhead lighting ("green light" must remain on during business hours); keep booth and surrounding area clean and free of debris.

• Complete accident report, "First Contact Report", for all (vehicle/pedestrian) accidents that occur in the Parking Structure and report information to supervisor after completion of the accident report.

• Report any unauthorized persons in or around buildings.

• Ensure booth is secure upon exiting; secure window and door locks.Education: Graduation from high school, possession of a certificate of proficiency issued by the California State Board of Education, or attainment of a satisfactory score on a G.E.D. examination.

Experience: Six months in the handling of money, collection of money, dispensing correct change, recordkeeping, customer service, and assisting the public.

Knowledge of: Basic customer service concepts and procedures; cash handling skills.

Ability to: Learn, understand, interpret, and apply County parking structure rules and regulations; follow oral and written instructions; perform mathematical calculations rapidly and accurately and dispense correct change; courteously and tactfully explain rules, regulations, and procedures to the public; think decisively and act tactfully in stressful situations; establish rapport and maintain cooperative working relationships with employees and the public; learn the physical location of various County departments and parking facilities.Other Requirements

License: Possession of a valid California Driver's License may be required.
