The County of Riverside - Riverside University Health System - Behavioral Health outpatient clinic is currently recruiting for a Registered Nurse I/V for our Franklin resendtial facility located in Riverside.
Candidates with ELMR experience are encouraged to apply.The Incumbents in this position will be responsible for the following: - Perform health assessments, monitor vital signs, and track changes in residents' medical and psychiatric conditions.
- Administer prescribed medications and treatments; ensure proper documentation and compliance with orders.
- Identify and respond to potential side effects or adverse reactions from medications.
- Provide immediate clinical intervention in psychiatric or medical emergencies.
- Collaborate with MFI & behavioral health staff to de-escalate crises and maintain resident and staff safety.
- Implement safety protocols, including suicide risk precautions, fall prevention, and infection control.
- Coordinate care plans with interdisciplinary teams, including psychiatrists, therapists, social workers, and case managers.
- Communicate effectively with residents, families, and external providers regarding care updates, treatment goals, and discharge planning.
- Educate residents on health management, medication adherence, self-care, and wellness practices.
- Provide psychoeducation to residents and support skill-building for managing symptomsMaintain accurate, timely nursing notes, medication records, and incident reports.
- Ensure compliance with facility policies, licensing requirements, and state/federal healthcare regulations (e.g., HIPAA).
- Team Collaboration & Leadership, participate in team meetings, shift handovers, and case reviews to ensure coordinated, holistic care.
- Provide clinical guidance and support to behavioral health staff and caregivers.
- Serve as a clinical resource for addressing residents' complex co-occurring medical and psychiatric needs.
Work Schedule : Monday-Friday, 9/80; Monday - Thursday 8: 30am - 6: 00pm; Friday 8: 30am - 5: 00pm; every other Friday off.

• Participate in various committee meetings and present and/or gather data and information to assist management in making administrative and operational decisions.
• Participate in committee activities related to performance improvement issues by auditing patient records and presenting performance improvement plans to the department staff at least annually; review and/or revise policy and procedures; participate in in-service education and staff development activities.
• Participate in the development of standards of care activities; serve as a preceptor and ongoing mentor to new nursing staff; assign and monitor work of a patient care-nursing unit or program to ensure quality and productivity standards are met.
• Serve as a resource person to other staff members; conduct research, contract monitoring and special unit studies to maintain high quality and enhance the professionalism of the unit or program.
• Identify needs for new nursing or mental health procedures and protocols; initiate draft of these procedures and protocols.
• Assess training needs of the assigned unit or program, and recommend and develop strategies to meet these needs; teach classes to meet the training needs of the unit at least twice a year.
• Draft recommendation standards of care, policies, procedures, and quality indicators as assigned; provide education for the staff and monitor compliance to reach established goals.
• Lead and co-lead both didactic and process groups and provide one-to-one counseling with clients, families, and significant others.
• Interface with professionals from within and outside of assigned areas to provide for continuity of client care.
• May coordinate and monitor patients through the hospitalization process utilizing physicians, primary care nurses, and third-party payors to maintain quality care and fiscal responsibility.
• May review the post hospital care plan with the patient/family, establishing a contact regarding time frames and responsibilities; follow plan through a discharge.
• May be responsible for oversight, development, implementation, and coordination of special programs, services, and education in the healthcare setting.
Registered Nurse I: ($39.57 - $43.67) Education: Successful completion of the education required to obtain a valid license to practice as a Registered Nurse in the State of California. (A bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in nursing or a health-related field may be required for some positions.)
Experience: None required.
Registered Nurse II: ($42.86 - $51.27) Education: Successful completion of the education required to obtain a valid license to practice as a Registered Nurse in the State of California. (A bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in nursing or a health-related field may be required for some positions.)
Experience: Completion of one year as a Registered Nurse in an acute care hospital, mental health setting, clinic outpatient setting, or healthcare agency program. Experience gained as an Interim Permit Nurse may be credited toward meeting the required experience. Evaluations and references must show proficiency of practice as a Registered Nurse.
Registered Nurse III: ($46.05 -$58.60) Education: Successful completion of the education required to obtain a valid license to practice as a Registered Nurse in the State of California.
Experience: Three years of full time experience as a Registered Nurse in an acute care facility, mental health facility, or community health agency with references and evaluations to show appropriate skill level. (A bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in nursing or national certification in a nursing specialty may be considered as a substitution for one year of the required experience. A master's degree from an accredited college or university in nursing may be considered as a substitution for two years of the required experience.)
Registered Nurse IV ($49.27 - $61.82)Education: Graduation from an accredited college or university with a bachelor's degree in nursing or health-related field or current and valid national certification in nursing or health-related field.
Experience: Six years as a full-time Registered Nurse. Some positions may require two years in a specialty area. A master's degree from an accredited college or university in nursing or a health-related field may be substituted for two years of the required experience.
Registered Nurse V: ( $54.31 - $65.22) OPTION I Education: Graduation from an accredited college or university with a bachelor's degree in nursing or a health-related field, and a current and valid national certification in nursing or health related field.
Experience: Nine years as a full time Registered Nurse with at least two years in a specialty area.
OPTION II Education: Graduation from an accredited college or university with a master's degree from an accredited college or university in nursing or health-related field.
Experience: Seven years as a full-time Registered Nurse with at least two years in a specialty area.
Knowledge of: Current principles, techniques and procedures used in professional nursing; medical terminology and patient care routine appropriate to clinical setting; medical instruments and equipment; the uses and effects of medicines and narcotics; community resources available to provide patient care and follow-up; federal, state and local laws and regulations governing professional aspects of nursing; identification of potential discharge needs; payor source documentation requirements and governmental regulations affecting reimbursement.
Additional Working Knowledge Requirements for Mental Health Applicants: Current child, dependent adult, and elder abuse reporting laws; current involuntary detention and commitment laws related to mental health; involuntary psychotropic medication laws; and Tarasoff-duty to warn requirements.
Ability to: Perform the full range of nursing duties and responsibilities in a patient care setting; plan, organize and implement nursing plans for patients; prepare and maintain concise and complete records and reports; establish and maintain effective working relationships with physicians, patients and co-workers; secure the cooperation of employees to work effectively together; keep abreast of developments in areas of nursing specialization; teaches, mentors and supervises others routinely; effectively prepare and present reports and recommendations both orally and in written form; evaluate the medical records of hospital admissions; provide recommendations regarding continued stay necessity; identify discharge needs; collect and evaluate data, draw conclusions and formulate recommendations.
In Mental Health, ability to use individual professionally sound judgment to make complex decisions related to: triage; clinical assessments including biopsychosocial evaluation; integration of mental health, chemical dependency, and physical healthcare needs; potential suicidality; placement issues and necessary linkages and supports; and need for emergent psychiatric care and consultation.
