Job Description
County of Riverside is hiring a Assistant Nurse Manager MC/CHC - RUHS Operating Room in Moreno Valley, CA. This is a full-time position.
The Riverside University Health System - Medical Center (RUHS-MC), Operating Room Department is seeking an Assistant Nurse Manager MC/CHC to join our team located in Moreno Valley. This recruitment may be used to fill vacancies in either the Unit Leader or Unit Educator assignment.
Our Perioperative Services team is dedicated to providing safe, individualized surgical care from preoperative preparation through postoperative recovery. We prioritize keeping patients and families informed and engaged throughout their surgical journey, supporting improved outcomes and recovery. The Assistant Nurse Manager will support the Clinical Director by supervising perioperative staff, and managing daily OR operations.
The incumbent in the Assistant Nurse Manager (Unit Leader) assignment will provide operational leadership by supervising and evaluating perioperative nursing staff, coordinating daily department operations, managing staffing and patient care delivery, ensuring compliance with regulatory and safety standards, collaborating with interdisciplinary teams, and supporting the Clinical Directors to promote efficient, high-quality surgical services.
The incumbent in the Assistant Nurse Manager (Unit Educator) assignment will provide clinical leadership by developing and coordinating staff education, orientation, competency validation, and professional development programs. The incumbent will promote evidence-based practice, support quality improvement initiatives, mentor nursing staff, and foster continuous learning to enhance clinical excellence and patient outcomes.
The most competitive candidates will possess extensive clinical experience in perioperative/OR settings, demonstrated leadership experience in a charge nurse or similar supervisory role, strong operational knowledge of the surgical environment, and experience supporting staff development through education, orientation, competency validation, and mentorship. Candidates should also have experience implementing quality improvement (QI) initiatives, the ability to effectively manage staff and workflows in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment, strong communication and collaboration skills, and proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.

Unit Educator: 9/80, with every other Monday off, Hours: 6: 45 a.m. to 4: 15 p.m.
Unit Leader: 9/80, with every other Monday off, Hours: 10: 00 a.m. to 7: 30 p.m.

- Promote collaboration among other departments, units, programs, and physicians; represent assigned unit(s) or program(s) in committee meetings.
- Assist in candidate recruiting, training, promotion, and termination activities; monitor performance of nursing staff and provide feedback.

Assistant Nurse Manger (Unit Leader) Assignment
- Support the Clinical Director of Nursing Services I/II at RUHS-MC in planning, coordinating and supervising the work of nursing personnel for multiple nursing units and/or programs within those unit(s).
- Assist in the coordination of in-service educational programs and staff meetings; provide assistance to preceptors in developing unit orientation programs for new nurses or program staff.
- Prepare administrative records, reports and correspondence related to budget, unit or program operations.
- Promote reliability in the acuity classification of patients and serve as a working charge nurse or supervisor, as needed to meet staffing requirements.
Unit Educator Assignment
- Instruct organized in-service nursing courses to professional and para-professional nursing personnel.
- Conduct orientation programs for new nursing personnel; provide direct oversight and supervision over the nursing personnel in the new grad program; participate in the evaluation and revision of instruction and nursing practices.
- Perform direct nursing care services as needed.
- Educate and train staff to support evidence-based practices.
- Facilitate assignments that support learning for the orientee or nurse learner.

- Perform in-service and training on medical equipment in real time.
Unit Coordinator Assignment
- Responsible for coordinating clinical care for patients in a 24-hour setting.
- Perform direct nursing care services as needed.
- Monitor and ensure program and staff compliance to Joint Commission, state and federal standards and regulations, and RUHS policies regarding patient care.
- Provide oversight and support to charge nurse to ensure staffing needs/assignment are made according to workload, staff competency and scope of practice; delegate responsibilities within the scope of practice and validated competencies in order to meet the workload demands of the shift.
