Description:

Join Cottage Health as an Educator. The Birth Center Educator provides and coordinates education related to specialty area. Functions as a consultant and resource for education, role development, building collaborative partnerships, and research through evidence-based practice/quality improvement, orientation/onboarding of new hires and competency management. Specific job competencies include:
  • Learning Facilitator- The educator uses the educational design process to bridge the knowledge, skills, and/or practice gaps identified through a needs assessment.
  • Leader/Mentor/Advocate for Nursing Professional Development- The educator advances the profession by contributing to the professional development of others and supports life-long learning as individuals develop across practice, professional and educational settings. The educator influences interprofessional practices, the nursing professional development specialty, the profession of nursing and healthcare.
  • Change Agent/ Partner for Practice Transitions- The educator actively works to transform processes at the micro, meso and macro system levels through inspiration, adoption, and sustainment of and adaptation of change management using project management and process improvement practices. The educator supports transitions of nurses and healthcare team members across learning and practice environments, role transitions and various professional stages.
  • Champion for Scientific Inquiry- The educator promotes the generation and dissemination of new knowledge and the use of evidence to advance nursing professional development practice, guide clinical practice and improve patient care.

QUALIFICATIONS

All job qualifications listed indicate the minimum level necessary to perform this job proficiently.

LEVEL OF EDUCATION

Minimum: BSN

Preferred: MSN or Master's in Education

CERTIFICATIONS, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS

Minimum: BLS, ACLS if area standard, California Registered Nurse license required.

Preferred: Certification in specialty area

TECHNICAL REQUIREMENTS

Minimum: Microsoft Office; AV applications; Ease with Technical applications (e.g. Search engines, websites)

Preferred: Hi fidelity simulation experience

YEARS OF RELATED WORK EXPERIENCE

Minimum: 5 years recent experience in a clinical setting related to specialty area; unit based education leadership

Preferred: Experience in a defined Educator Role
