City Net is hiring a Facilities Supervisor (Watt Ave.) in North Highlands, CA. This is a full-time position.
Position Overview The Facilities Supervisor is responsible for the overall maintenance, safety, security, and operational readiness of homeless shelter facilities. This position ensures that all buildings, grounds, equipment, and systems are maintained in a safe, functional, and welcoming condition for clients, employees, volunteers, and community partners. The Facilities Supervisor oversees preventative maintenance programs, repairs, vendor management, regulatory compliance, safety initiatives, and facility improvement projects while supporting the organization's mission of providing safe and dignified shelter to individuals experiencing homelessness. This position works closely with shelter leadership to minimize operational disruptions and maintain compliance with all applicable federal, state, local, and funding agency requirements. The Facilities Supervisor may be assigned additional duties as needed to support program goals and agency operations. This includes collaborating with other departments and taking direction from other supervisors or managers as appropriate. Expected Hours and Place of Work: The incumbent works full-time, primarily at our Watt Ave. Safe Stay Community Shelter where the typical office hours are Monday-Friday 8: 00 am-4: 30 pm, and some evenings and weekends as necessary for optimal business function. Key Responsibilities/Essential Functions: Facility Operations Oversee the daily operation and maintenance of shelter facilities, administrative offices, and surrounding grounds. Develop and implement preventative maintenance schedules for all building systems, equipment, and vehicles (if applicable). Conduct routine facility inspections to identify maintenance needs, safety concerns, and opportunities for improvement. Coordinate emergency repairs to minimize disruptions to shelter operations. Ensure all facilities remain clean, safe, functional, and presentable. Oversight of the kitchen and some kitchen duties involved. Inventory, ordering, purchasing of supplies. Administrative Support Audit all case management systems and files for timely data entry and quality Track all MCP and Referral trackers for recordkeeping Effectively communicate with City Net departments to ensure efficient service delivery Communicate with team when additional documentation or correction is needed Maintenance Management Supervise maintenance personnel and custodial staff, including scheduling, training, coaching, and performance management. Assign and prioritize maintenance work orders. Maintain inventory of maintenance supplies, tools, equipment, and replacement parts. Develop maintenance procedures and standard operating practices. Monitor completion of work orders to ensure quality and timeliness. Safety & Compliance Ensure compliance with Cal/OSHA regulations, local fire codes, health department requirements, ADA standards, and applicable building codes. Participate in the organization's Injury and Illness Prevention Program (IIPP), Workplace Violence Prevention Plan (WVPP), Emergency Action Plan, and other safety initiatives. Conduct routine safety inspections and document corrective actions. Coordinate annual fire inspections, fire extinguisher servicing, alarm testing, sprinkler inspections, and emergency lighting inspections. Assist with emergency preparedness planning and facility evacuation drills. Vendor & Contractor Management Solicit bids and manage relationships with contractors, vendors, and service providers. Coordinate contracted services including HVAC, plumbing, electrical, pest control, landscaping, janitorial services, security systems, and waste management. Review invoices and verify completed work before payment. Monitor vendor performance and contract compliance. Budget Administration Assist in developing annual facilities budgets. Monitor maintenance and repair expenditures. Identify cost-saving opportunities while maintaining quality and safety standards. Obtain competitive quotes for repairs and capital improvements. Security Oversee building access systems, key control, and facility security measure. Ensure exterior lighting, surveillance systems, gates, fencing, and security equipment remain operational. Coordinate facility-related incident response with shelter leadership. Environmental Health Ensure proper disposal of hazardous materials and biohazardous waste in accordance with regulations. Coordinate remediation of environmental hazards when necessary. Maintain sanitation standards throughout shelter facilities. Collaboration Partner with shelter management to identify operational needs. Coordinate facility improvements that enhance client experience and employee safety. Respond promptly to facility emergencies during business hours and participate in an on-call rotation as assigned.
