Description:
Position Summary: The Family Nurse Practitioner is responsible for ongoing treatment to all clients at our eating disorder residential treatment center in San Diego. Maintains open communication lines with the Executive Director, Medical Director, Director of Nursing, facility staff, attending clinicians, clients and families. Liaisons with community agencies, vendors, and payors of health services.
- This is a part-time job and work is to be performed on-site
- Pay range is 65-80 dollars per hour
- Total amount of anticipated work per week is up to 8 hours
Essential Job Functions: - Under the direction of the Medical Director and or acting as the Medical Director, provides history and physical new patient assessments, ongoing medication monitoring, ordering labs, medication management and discharge assessments of all clients.
- Assists in the coordination and integration of medical/nursing services with other client care services to ensure continuity of care for each client.
- Participating in team conferences with the multidisciplinary team and the client care committee (if the facility chooses to establish a client care committee).
- Attends and participates in all "in-service" functions.
- Assists with emergency situations and make immediate referrals.
- Maintains the Confidential nature of all clients and facility activities.
- Maintains required Training & Continuing Education.
- Maintains Standards of Ethical Conduct.
- Complies with all Policies and Procedures.
- Effectively communicates concerns about client health to the Medical Director/Director of Nursing and follows up as necessary.
- Facilitates medication education for new clients and for all other clients starting new medications.
- Meets with therapists to provide information about client psychiatric/medical problems.
- Assists the treatment team in incorporating medical issues into treatment planning.
- Participate in regular department meetings and staff meetings.
- Maintains effective communication between outside medical services and the facility.
- Keeps and shares records and equipment.
- Participates in Performance Improvement, Utilization Review, Fire & Disaster Committees, and others as requested.
- Maintains up-to-date training in CPR, First Aid, Infection Control, Fire Safety, and other areas mandated by organizational policies.
- Provides prompt on-call telephone coverage when needed/scheduled
- Will be responsive and available to nursing for any medical, psychiatric or detox orders for both emergent cases and admissions during on-call hours.
- Will work with nursing leadership team to ensure protocols are in place to proactively address issues that can be handled without on-call contacts.
- Works closely with the Medical Director and Nursing Director ensuing all relevant protocols are followed.

Knowledge, Education, & Experience: - Graduate from an accredited/approved Registered Nursing program nurse
- Licensed as a Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner and Registered Nurse, maintains current licensure per state requirements. Maintains current CPR.
- A minimum of one year's experience as a Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner in a program dealing with the management of addictions or behavioral health issues, preferred.
- Knowledge of Joint Commission Standards.
- Demonstrates Proficiency in Communication, Written skills.
- Experience managing staff.
- Knowledge of State & Federal Statutes Regarding Patient Confidentiality laws.
- Knowledge of Drug-Free Workplace Policies.
- Knowledge of Workplace Violence.
- Knowledge of Corporate Integrity & Compliance Program.
- Knowledge of Safety Management/ Infection/ Risk Management.
