Job Title: Staffing CoordinatorLocation: Bakersfield Post Acute Facility Type: Skilled Nursing FacilityPosition Type: Full-TimePay: $22 an hourPosition Summary: We are seeking a detail-oriented, organized, and dependable
Staffing Coordinator to support the nursing department through efficient scheduling, administrative support, and team coordination. The ideal candidate will have strong communication skills, experience with scheduling, and a passion for providing excellent support in a healthcare setting.
Essential Responsibilities: Administrative & Scheduling Duties
- Maintain updated contact lists for nursing staff and department managers
- Monitor and document tardiness and absenteeism; report trends to DNS
- Assist with scheduling modified duty assignments in compliance with restrictions
- Manage the completion of employee records at hire, reclassification, and discharge
- Support nursing staff in completing timecards, leave requests, and schedule changes
- Prepare and post monthly nursing schedules, worksheets, and time schedules
- Coordinate and document staffing variances; assist DNS with corrections
- Respond to staffing-related employee and applicant inquiries
- Coordinate interviews and ensure new hires have timecards and schedules prior to orientation
Personnel & Compliance
- Assist in verifying licenses/certifications prior to orientation
- Maintain current employee credential files and update as needed
- Document attendance and tardiness for performance reviews
- Maintain confidentiality of all employee information
- Report suspected or known fraud or HIPAA violations per policy
Staff Development & Support
- Provide orientation schedules and support new hire onboarding
- Ensure quality orientation experiences through collaboration with unit managers
- Assist in recordkeeping for in-services and training sessions
- Attend in-services and committee meetings as needed (safety, recruitment, etc.)
Equipment, Supplies & Safety
- Ensure supervisory areas are stocked with supplies
- Maintain clean and orderly workspaces; follow all safety procedures
- Report hazardous conditions or equipment issues immediately
Qualifications: - High school diploma or equivalent required
- Experience in healthcare scheduling or staffing preferred
- Ability to read and understand technical procedures and policy documents
- Proficient in basic math concepts (fractions, ratios, percentages)
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills
- Ability to work independently and handle sensitive information discreetly
- Comfortable working in a fast-paced, emotionally dynamic environment
Physical Demands & Work Environment: - Must be able to move intermittently throughout the workday
- Must be able to push, pull, or lift up to 25 pounds
- Exposure to infectious diseases and hazardous materials may occur
- May be required to work weekends, holidays, or respond in emergencies
