Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA) - PRN Starting Rate: $45/hour
Sequoia Transitional Care, a skilled nursing facility, is seeking a dedicated
PRN Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA) to join our rehabilitation team. This role provides flexibility while making a meaningful difference in the lives of our residents.
General PurposeThe COTA assists the Occupational Therapist with patient-related activities and direct patient care, helping residents achieve their highest level of independence and quality of life.
Essential Duties- Provide therapy treatments as directed by the Occupational Therapist.
- Record daily treatment notes and weekly progress notes in compliance with OT Board standards.
- Follow physician treatment plans for each patient.
- Assist nursing staff with training Restorative Aides.
- Communicate effectively with the supervising OT and interdisciplinary team regarding patient progress and plans.
- Participate in in-service training programs for facility staff.
- Maintain accurate documentation including evaluations, recertifications, and discharge notes per state and payer requirements.
- Provide caregiver training and family education to support safe discharge planning.
- Assist in maintaining a clean and safe treatment area, reporting equipment issues promptly.
Qualifications- Current COTA license in the state of California.
- Proficient in electronic documentation systems (e.g., Casamba, PointClickCare).
- Strong communication skills with patients, families, and healthcare team members.
- Ability to read, interpret, and apply therapy standards, policies, and physician orders.
- Must meet ongoing state continuing education requirements.
Physical Demands- Frequent standing, walking, and reaching.
- Ability to push/pull and lift up to 50 lbs frequently and 100 lbs occasionally.
- Occasional stooping, kneeling, or crouching.
- Visual acuity including close, distance, and peripheral vision.
Work Environment- Skilled nursing and rehabilitation setting.
- Low to moderate noise levels.
