Job Title: Director of Staff Development (DSD)
Location: Arvin Post Acute - Arvin, California
Salary Range: $75, 000 - $95, 000/year, Based on Experience
Employment Type: Full-Time
Join Our Team at Arvin Post Acute!We are seeking an experienced and dynamic
Director of Staff Development (DSD) to lead our employee training and development efforts. This is a critical leadership role responsible for coordinating staff education, compliance, infection control, and onboarding at our skilled nursing facility.
Key Responsibilities: - Oversee and coordinate all required in-service education programs and staff development activities
- Conduct needs assessments and implement education plans for nursing and facility staff
- Maintain in-service records per regulatory standards and prepare monthly/annual training calendars
- Ensure regulatory compliance in staff education, including Fire/Internal Disaster and Mass Casualty Drills
- Supervise staff and support disciplinary actions when appropriate
- Coordinate recruiting, onboarding, payroll, and benefit administration in collaboration with HR
- Make rounds to monitor care quality and provide direct patient care as needed
- Lead infection control and surveillance activities
- Participate in facility surveys, audits, and quality improvement initiatives
Qualifications: - Current California RN or LVN license (RN preferred)
- Minimum of 1 year of direct patient care experience in a long-term care setting
- At least 1 year of experience in planning and delivering staff education programs
- BSN preferred
- Knowledge of state and federal nursing facility regulations
- Familiarity with PointClickCare (PCC) preferred
- Strong organizational, leadership, and communication skills
- CPR certification required
Physical Requirements: - Frequent standing, walking, reaching, pushing, pulling, and talking
- Ability to lift up to 75 lbs
- Occasional stooping, kneeling, crouching, or crawling
- Visual acuity for close and distance work
Work Environment: - Typical skilled nursing facility environment
- Low to moderate noise levels
- Frequent interaction with residents, staff, and families
