Schneider Electric is hiring a Senior Software Application Engineer Turbomachinery Controls in New Cairo, C. This is a full-time position.

What will you do?
  • Recognized Turbomachinery Control (TMC) expert providing design and specification leadership to the local and regional TMC engineering teams for projects and services.
  • Develops engineering designs, specifications, control strategies, specialized device selections and application QA testing.
  • Interfaces directly with customers, internal teams, and coordinates direction of technical requirements for projects and maintains customer satisfaction.
  • Provides field support and service, internal and customer training, startup and commissioning of applications implemented and related to the project.
  • Provide consulting services, FEED, site audits/studies and advice to customers.
  • Provide internal marketing and sales support for Sales Account Managers, Proposals and other consultants.


Job Responsibilities:
  • Perform engineering control solutions based on the project specification and produce Functional Design Specification, Basis of Design Document, and define philosophy.
  • A design authority and specialist in steam turbine speed / load control, extraction controls, compressor anti-surge and performance controls, hydraulic actuator systems, generator excitation control, and field instrumentation to produce specifications and testing strategies for the project.
  • Responsible for design and approval of the project team's development and implementation of configuration and control logic.
  • Interface with customers on technical details and queries during project execution.
  • Advise and develop test procedure and support project team's Pre-FAT test, FAT test and Integrated-FAT.
  • Review project documentation ensuring all technical documents are properly documented and QA controlled.
  • Ensure scope and technical solutions match project budgetary and schedule requirements.
  • Ability to manage in-house teams, external sub-contractors, interface with remote project teams, and liaise with other key stakeholders.
  • Perform other related duties such as customer site support on assigned project and start-up activities.
  • Acquire and maintain knowledge of Schneider Electric EcoStruxure systems, including Triconex, Modicon and Foxboro systems, engineering processes, best practices, and industry standards.
  • Lead a team of technicians/engineers to carry out pre-assigned tasks during site installation and site commissioning.
  • Lead responsibility for the technical implementation of the project, resolution of all technical issues and directs the effort of the technical project team.
  • Participate in engineering reviews of selected/assigned tasks such as:
    • Review of design documentation and drawings, monitoring for quality/quantity of incoming equipment and material.
    • Review of system hardware design/engineering including panels, cabinets, etc.
    • Review system/control/architecture standards.
    • Review graphic building/display configuration.
    • Support systems staging, integration and testing.
    • Lead site activities.
  • Complete assigned projects to meet pre-defined criteria of time, cost, quality, and scope.
  • Responsible for the implementation of the assigned technical portion of the project and interfaces with the customer engineering team.
  • Provide complex application and process control engineering support, including hardware engineering and software configuration for all process industry.
  • Translate customers requirements into project requirements documents such as; Functional design specifications, narratives, logic diagrams.
  • Assist the Project Manager in the implementation and resolution of technical issues that are selected/assigned.
  • Provide Sales and Proposals with technical support in preparation of local and regional quotations for tendered projects.
  • Perform all engineering procedures in accordance with the engineering procedures and QA requirements.
  • Development of Engineering Standards and Templates to improve configuration efficiency and repeatability.
  • Development of Schneider Electric TMC application library designs, enhancements, and coordination of specialist community communication and feedback on libraries.
  • Contribute to Schneider Electric global community and Center of Practice (CoP) through active interaction and engagement with knowledge building and sharing.
What's in it for me?
  • A professionally qualified engineer with a Degree / Master's in Electrical Engineering or related engineering discipline.
  • At least 10-20 years of related experience in industrial process controls, including configuration and commissioning of PLC logic solver-based applications.
  • Ability to design, coordinate and execute engineering designs and site-based activities for project delivery independently without higher technical support.
  • Ability to communicate and promote TMC within the local and regional TMC engineering and sales organizations.
  • Specialist knowledge of Turbomachinery Controls, Rotating Equipment Controls, Mechanical Hydraulic applications, Generator controls, industry regulations, standards, and best practice implementation.
  • Prior knowledge of Safety Instrumented Systems and Functional Safety aspects would be advantageous.
