033943 General Ledger Team Lead (Open)

Job Description:

ROLE OVERVIEW

Responsible for ensuring that global expenses are properly recorded and balance sheet reconciliations are performed and reviewed. Responsible for supervising a team of accountants. Ensures that the general ledger accounts and trial balances are accurate and timely. Focus on automating
transactions, promoting internal controls to minimize errors during process performance, problem resolution, and delivering performance that meets or exceeds defined service levels.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and own end‑to‑end General Ledger operations, ensuring high standards of quality, control, and delivery.
  • Ensure stable, high‑quality delivery of assigned processes, proactively managing risks and dependencies.
  • Ensure financial close and reporting are accurate, complete, timely, and compliant with internal and external requirements.
  • Oversee balance sheet governance, ensuring reconciliations are high quality, actionable, and cleared in line with policy.
  • Challenge aged or unusual reconciling items and drive root‑cause resolution.
  • Own internal control execution for assigned processes and proactively identify and remediate control gaps.
  • Drive consistent achievement of SLA and KPI targets, using data and performance management to improve outcomes
  • Act as primary escalation point for operational and stakeholder issues, ensuring timely resolution and clear communication.
  • Lead continuous improvement initiatives, leveraging process redesign, automation, and technology to improve efficiency and control.
  • Actively support global and regional transformation initiatives, including system upgrades and standardization efforts.
  • Lead, develop, and engage a high‑performing GL team through clear goal setting, coaching, feedback, and performance management.
  • Build a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous learning.
  • Take on additional responsibilities as required to support business needs and change initiatives.

Education And Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance with 6–8 years of progressive experience, including 2-3 years of people leadership responsibility.
  • Experience working in or supporting a shared services environment.
  • Hands‑on experience with ERP environments and involvement in system implementations, upgrades, or harmonization projects preferred.

  • Proven ability to lead, motivate, and develop teams in a fast‑paced environment.
  • Ability to make decisions, to prioritize, to delegate and to empower team members.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Thorough understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and Generally Accepted Auditing Standards (GAAS).
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Demonstrated openness to change and strong interest in leveraging technology, automation, and AI to improve finance processes.
  • Demonstrates resilience, adaptability, and the ability to lead teams through change.
