Job Description:

ROLE OVERVIEW:

The Accounts Payable Team Leader within our GBSC AP team plays a key role in ensuring accurate and timely financial records for multiple Greif entities. This position is responsible for leading, motivating, and developing a team of AP professionals, while clearly defining team priorities and deliverables.

The AP Team Leader serves as the primary point of contact for Finance and Sourcing stakeholders on complex topics and escalations. The role involves close coordination and supervision of day‑to‑day AP operations and requires a solid understanding of accounting principles and end‑to‑end Source‑to‑Pay processes.

Key Responsibilities

  • Leading and coordinating daily AP operational activities
  • Acting as escalation point for complex AP, Finance, and Sourcing issues
  • Building a high‑performing team culture based on trust, collaboration, and open communication
  • Managing team performance through clear expectations, regular feedback, and formal appraisals
  • Monitoring team performance through quantitative and qualitative metrics (KPIs / SLAs)
  • Supporting hiring, onboarding, and talent development activities
  • Driving compliance with internal policies, procedures, and control requirements
  • Participating and/ or leading projects
  • Making decisions that directly impact operations as well as internal and external stakeholders


Education and Experience

  • University or college degree required, preferably in Finance, Accounting, or Economics
  • Minimum 3 years of professional experience in Accounts Payable or Accounting, with proven subject‑matter expertise in AP
  • At least 1 year of experience in a senior or lead AP role is required; formal people‑management experience is a strong advantage

  • Demonstrated ability to coach, develop, and train team members
  • Strong communication, interpersonal, and analytical skills
  • High level of resilience, ownership mindset, and personal accountability
  • Proactive, solution‑oriented “can‑do” attitude
  • Role‑model behavior aligned with servant leadership principles
  • Strong customer focus, both internal and external
  • Fluent English required; excellent verbal and written communication skills are essential
