About the role:

Vantage is seeking a skilled Risk Analyst with experience in Insurance-Linked-Securities (ILS) to join our team. Reporting to the VP, Group Risk Analytics, the successful candidate will focus on modeling and pricing property catastrophe reinsurance submissions, enhancing our reporting capabilities, and developing internal pricing tools. This role requires strong quantitative skills, an analytical mindset, initiative, and relentless curiosity.

The base salary expectation for this role is between $160, 000 and $200, 000. Actual base salary for the selected candidate may be higher commensurate with candidate experience and expectations. Responsibilities & Accountabilities:

  • Modeling and Pricing:
    • Analyze and price property catastrophe reinsurance submissions using advanced modeling techniques.
    • Develop and maintain models to assess risk.
    • Collaborate with underwriters to ensure accurate risk assessment.

  • Enhancing Pricing Tools:
    • Review and improve internal pricing tools to enhance efficiency and accuracy.
    • Implement new methodologies and technologies to optimize pricing processes.
    • Work closely with data & technology teams to integrate new tools into existing systems.

  • Data Analysis and Reporting:
    • Gather and analyze data from various sources to support pricing decisions.
    • Enhance and optimize ongoing reporting requirements for external stakeholders.
    • Prepare detailed reports and presentations for stakeholders, highlighting key insights and recommendations.

  • Collaboration and Communication:
    • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to align pricing strategies with business objectives.
    • Communicate complex analytical concepts in a clear and concise manner to non-technical stakeholders.
    • Participate in meetings and discussions with brokers, clients, and other industry professionals.

Ideal Candidate Profile:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Mathematics, Statistics, or a related field; advanced degree preferred.
  • 7+ years' experience in reinsurance / catastrophe modeling or similar, with familiarity in insurance-linked securities being a plus.
  • Familiarity with standard reinsurance submissions and data.
  • Strong proficiency in statistical analysis and financial modeling.
  • Proficiency with industry-standard modeling software (e.g., Moody’s, Verisk). Experience with other third-party catastrophe modeling vendors a plus.
  • Catastrophe-modeling credentials from Moody’s (CCRA) or Verisk (CEEM) preferred. CCRMP or CSCR credentials from iCAS a plus.
  • Mastery of SQL programming language preferred; proficiency in Python & R a plus.
  • Familiarity with Snowflake or similar as a data repository also a plus.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
