Westland Insurance Group has an exciting, fixed-term contract opportunity for a Licensing & Compliance Specialist to work in a hybrid capacity. This is an 18-month maternity leave cover.

Expected Compensation: The expected hiring salary range for this role is $59, 200 - $74, 000 with a 35-hour work week. Your rate of pay will be determined based on your individual qualifications and experience, while considering internal equity.

As a Licensing & Compliance Specialist, you're responsible for supporting management with the company's licensing and regulatory compliance policies and procedures. You will help with the ongoing maintenance, research, development, and implementation of insurance services/policies that meet all regulatory and compliance requirements within a timely manner.

Why we'll love You:

  • You have 3-5 years of experience in the Insurance, Legal, or other regulated industries, with a strong grasp of compliance and operational standards.
  • You're proficient with software systems including, but not limited to, Microsoft Office Suite and Adobe Acrobat.
  • You're skilled at working with complex information and bring strong organizational skills and sharp attention to detail.
  • You have experience managing multiple concurrent projects in a structured project management environment.
  • You thrive consistently meeting tight timelines and business-driven deadlines.
  • You possess excellent written and verbal communication skills and can convey ideas clearly and professionally.
  • You're a proactive self-starter-resourceful, motivated, and results-oriented-with a positive, team-focused attitude.
  • Insurance licensing (current or prior) is a strong asset, as is bilingualism in French.

Once here, you'll:

  • Act as the subject matter expert for maintaining, developing, and implementing insurance policies and procedures that ensure timely regulatory compliance.
  • Provide guidance to ensure adherence to insurance licensing and compliance standards.
  • Represent regulatory and compliance interests across corporate and departmental projects as needed. Serve as a resource for licensing inquiries across the business.
  • Ensure brokerages, firms, and licensed employees comply with provincial and territorial licensing requirements.
  • Identify, report, and resolve licensing issues, escalating when needed.
  • Maintain and update licensing guides and compliance tools (Smartsheets, SharePoint).
  • Monitor regulatory changes, assess risks, and recommend solutions and liaise with regulators and external partners as required.
  • Perform related administrative/other assigned tasks as needed to support team and business goals.
