WHERE YOU COME IN

We are looking for a Social Media Specialist to join our team at Make-A-Wish Canada. Reporting to the Digital Marketing Director, you will create and implement effective digital marketing strategies across all owned social media platforms to support our mission of granting wishes to children facing critical illnesses. This role requires a creative and strategic thinker with a deep understanding of social media and digital trends.

This role can be based out of anywhere in Canada. This is a full-time, 14-month contract, hybrid position. The hiring range for this role is $69, 100-$74, 100.

WHAT YOU WILL DO

  • Develop and execute comprehensive social media strategies aligned with the organization's goals and target audience.
  • Manage all social media accounts, including content creation, scheduling, and community engagement, ensuring consistent messaging and branding.
  • Create compelling and engaging content, including images, videos, and written copy, that resonates with supporters, donors, and wish families.
  • Monitor and analyse media performance metrics to track the effectiveness of campaigns and content, making data-driven recommendations for optimization.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to coordinate social media, digital campaigns, events, and fundraising initiatives.
  • Stay updated on social media and digital marketing industry trends and emerging platforms to identify new opportunities for reaching and engaging our audience.
  • Respond to inquiries, comments, and messages across social media channels, fostering a positive and supportive online community.
  • Contribute to the development of additional digital marketing campaigns, ensuring alignment with social media efforts.
  • Prepare regular reports on social media key performance indicators and campaign outcomes for presentation to the management team.
  • Other duties as assigned.

WHAT YOU BRING

  • Degree or Diploma in marketing, with specialized social media marketing certification(s) or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
  • 3+ years of experience in social media management and digital marketing, preferably in the nonprofit sector.
  • Bilingual in French and English is a strong asset.
  • Strong understanding of various social media platforms, algorithms, and best practices.
  • Proficiency in content creation tools, graphic design software, and video editing applications.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to craft compelling and impactful messaging.
  • Analytical mindset with the ability to interpret data and adjust strategies accordingly.
  • Experience with Brandwatch is an asset.
  • Knowledge of SEO and SEM principles is an asset.
  • A clear Criminal Background Check will be required.

YOUR WORK ENVIRONMENT

  • Hybrid work environment: 2 days in-office, 3 days remote per week.
  • Occasional work outside of traditional office hours and occasional travel for large team gatherings.

Physical/Mental Effort

  • Work under pressure at peak times of the year with tight deadlines, high volume workload, and with multiple demands, changing and overlapping priorities.
