Position Description Summary
The Business Controller Innovative Medicine Romania is responsible for partnering with and providing financial leadership to Romanian functional and therapeutic area Business Unit leaders. The Romanian Business controller will be responsible for driving finance standardisation, optimisation across the various finance teams, whilst providing optimised decision support, analytical value creation and resource optimisation for a business with a turnover of nearly $250MM. The role will be key in elevating the level of digital finance adoption and usage of new technology within the wider finance team. This role reports to the Finance Director for Innovative Medicine Greece & Romania.
Key Responsibilities
Business Partnering
- Strong business partnership with the Romanian leadership team to achieve Innovative Medicine’s country vision. Active member of the Extended Leadership Team.
- Influence business leadership in financial decision-making; Drive focus on value and contribute to the growth of the business together with other members of the management team and Departmental heads.
- Provide constructive challenges and champion value creating growth opportunities
- Lead and supervise performance against business plan commitments (e.g. sales, FTE, OPEX, DSO, CAPEX)
- Bring an external focus and establish connections with internal and external partners that drive business performance
- Participate in and lead EMEA and cross-sector initiatives
Financial Planning, Data Analytics & Accounting
- Take a strong role in defining driving the Digital Finance agenda to improve our data efficiency and increase the use of digital technology.
- Lead monthly financial closing processes where local business knowledge is needed
- Be responsible for financial planning of the business plan, including market updates and trends. In addition to the overall coordination and consolidation, this includes insightful financial analysis and scenario-thinking to drive strategic prioritization and innovative approaches.
- Engage with the business to identify and support new business opportunities
- Lead the periodic financial performance reviews & budget variance analysis providing an overview of performance to the Management team and regional leadership teams
Compliance
- Comply with the J& J World Wide Financial Procedures, Health Care Business Integrity, transparent and Business Conduct procedures and drive accountability throughout the organization
- Ensure compliance with local regulations
Finance Leadership
- Actively champion a deep collaboration between all finance groups (e.g. Country Tax Centre, Global Services (accounting support)
- Be an inspirational leader; who encourages people to reach their potential and have an external and customer lens, and ensures Credo Values are demonstrated in the day-to-day interactions of the team
Scope of Role:
- This role is a key member of the Greece & Romania Cluster Finance team, collaborating closely with business leaders, peers and HOF’s so applicants must be collaborative and dynamic in style, agents of change and always seeking to improve the way things are achieved, employing and driving the team to apply a forward-thinking analytical mindset.
Job Requirements
Qualifications:
- Degree level qualifications
- Fully qualified Accountant, with relevant post qualification work experience
Languages:
- Good English language skills both speaking & written
- Proficiency in Romanian is required.
Experience Required:
- Broad based FP& A and business partnering experience preferred – prior commercial / Operating Company Experience strongly desired
- Experience of working in a regional/ global organisation with matrix business relationships
- Proven track record of high performance and driving process improvements across a complex business environment
- Experience with digital finance tools (Power Query, Power BI, Alteryx) and demonstrated ability to drive adoption of the new tools is essential for success in the role
