Job Description:

We are seeking a Principal HR Partner to serve as a strategic advisor and trusted partner to business leaders, helping shape and execute human resources strategies that drive organizational success and support our life-saving work. In this role, you will collaborate across Human Resources Centers of Excellence-including Total Rewards, Belonging Together, Talent Acquisition, and Organizational Development-to deliver impactful solutions that enhance employee engagement, leadership effectiveness, and organizational performance. Leading a team of HR Partners, you will foster strong partnerships, guide complex people initiatives, and help cultivate a workplace culture grounded in Vitalant's values of Respect, Integrity, Teamwork, and Excellence.

Compensation: $135, 000- $175, 000 + incentive plan eligibility
This hybrid position is based in Scottsdale, AZ; Mather, CA; Denver, CO; Rosemont, IL; or Pittsburgh, PA, and requires working onsite three days per week and from a home office two days per week.

As a Principal HR Partner, you'll get to:
  • Lead and develop a team of HR Partners, providing coaching, guidance, and performance management to drive business and employee success.
  • Partner with senior leaders to develop and execute people strategies that align with organizational goals and support business growth.
  • Serve as a trusted advisor on workforce planning, organizational design, change management, and talent strategies.
  • Leverage workforce data, dashboards, and predictive analytics to identify trends, inform decision-making, and drive strategic HR initiatives.
  • Collaborate with HR Centers of Excellence to implement talent acquisition, total rewards, organizational development, performance management, and employee engagement programs.
  • Support leadership development, succession planning, talent reviews, and performance management initiatives to strengthen organizational capability.
  • Champion change management efforts and guide leaders through organizational transformation and business initiatives.
  • Foster an inclusive and equitable workplace culture in partnership with Belonging Together and business leaders.
  • Contribute to HR operational excellence through budget management, regulatory compliance, process improvements, and continuous enhancement of HR programs and services.
REQUIREMENTS:

KNOWLEDGE/EDUCATION
  • Bachelor's degree in related area or equivalent combination of education and experience, required.
  • Master's Degree, preferred.
  • Advanced knowledge of all Human Resources generalist functions (e.g., Employee Relations, talent management, performance management, EEO/AAP, Compensation & Benefits, Workers' Compensation, Training, and Employment law), required.
  • Knowledge of effective general business management practices, required.
LICENSES/CERTIFICATIONS
Professional in Human Resources (PHR), Senior Professional in Human Resources (SPHR), or Human Capital Strategist (HCS), and/or similar HR certification, preferred.

EXPERIENCE
10 years of Human Resource Generalist or HRP experience, required. To include:
  • Supporting employees at multiple levels
  • Utilizing data to identify insights that drive actions
  • Experience managing change initiatives including operational restructuring, business process redesign, adoption of new technology, etc.
  • Experience with HR/OD/DEIB dashboard reporting and analytics
  • 5 years of supervisory experience
  • Multi-site/state experience
  • Working in a matrixed organizational support model
4 years of experience in an HR Business Partner role, preferred.
Principal experience participating in labor union negotiations and management of union employees, preferred
Nationwide experience, preferred
Blood services or healthcare-related work experience, preferred

  • Excellent verbal and written communication to analyze, interpret and address operational needs and to provide an exceptional customer experience.
  • Ability to build strong, collaborative relationships with diverse groups of people and to be viewed as a credible business partner is crucial to success.
  • Must have a participative management style, strong team development, coaching skills, and the ability to lead and motivate senior and executive-level managers.
  • Ability to work in a variable, fast paced environment, to be flexible and quickly adapt to changing business needs and processes with multiple priorities and deadlines.
  • Must have analytical, statistical, personal organization, and problem-solving skills.
  • Must have proficient computer skills.
  • Proven organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to travel (20+%)
  • Extensive knowledge of computer applications including MS Office, HRIS systems databases and the ability to learn new software rapidly.
