VALLEY OF THE SUN YOUNG MEN'S CHRISTIAN ASSOCIATION is hiring a Healthy Living Program Lead - Northwest Valley Family YMCA in El Mirage, AZ. This is a full-time position.
Provides instruction and leadership and maintains a safe environment while conducting and monitoring effective and enjoyable healthy living programs and activities. RESPONSIBILITIES OF A HEALTHY LIVING PROGRAM LEAD: Develops, implements and manages healthy living programs, complying with all Association standards and safety procedures. Recruits, hires and trains all healthy living program staff and volunteer positions. Contributes to the overall branch operations, including Kids Club and working the Welcome Center. Supervises and evaluates staff regularly to ensure program quality and consistency. Instructs classes and/or works in fitness center as needed. Administers the healthy living programs within the departmental budget. Ensures that program areas, equipment, and supplies are maintained in an orderly and safe manner. Provides data and reports on assigned programs in support of the planning process of the branch and Association. Develops, produces, and disseminates appropriate program information in order to promote health/fitness programs to the public and to current members. Incorporates the mission, philosophy, and 4 core values of the YMCA in all communication with participants and co-workers. Adhere to all association policies related to child and vulnerable adult abuse prevention and risk management. All other duties as assigned. *This is not an exhaustive list of job duties. REQUIREMENTS TO BE A HEALTHY LIVING PROGRAM LEAD: 21 years of age or older Experience with computers including word processing and database software. Ability to train fitness center and group exercise instructors. Demonstrated knowledge and experience in the recruitment, training and supervision of professional staff and volunteers. Must have good interpersonal, public relations and communication skills, including the ability to make oral presentations. Ability to effectively communicate with members, staff, peers, volunteers and supervisor. Ability to effectively communicate information on YMCA Healthy Lifestyle Principles, Foundations of YMCA Group Excercise and/or YMCA Personal Training Instructor, CPR, First Aid.
