Key Responsibilities

Strategic Procurement & Supplier Management

  • Develop and implement purchasing strategies for materials, specialized parts, MRO supplies, and services.
  • Establish and maintain supplier relationships, including site visits to drive continuous improvement in quality, service, and cost.
  • Collaborate with estimating, engineering, and manufacturing teams to make informed make-or-buy decisions.
  • Negotiate and execute purchases based on quality, price, and delivery to achieve optimal outcomes.
  • Enter purchase orders and maintain accurate documentation in real-time.

Inventory Management & Working Capital

  • Manage inventory levels to support manufacturing requirements while meeting working capital objectives.
  • Establish optimum inventory levels and turnover rates.
  • Ensure timely disposition or return of surplus materials.
  • Lead annual physical inventory processes and support cycle counting programs aligned with business goals.
  • Assist in inventory audits and ensure compliance with company standards.

Cost Control & Financial Alignment

  • Monitor and manage material costs across the business and within specific product lines to meet financial targets.
  • Review costed BOMs against sold product to ensure material content aligns with budget expectations.
  • Identify discrepancies between estimated and actual material costs and develop corrective actions.
  • Communicate cost variances and solutions to cross-functional teams in real time.
  • Resolve deltas between estimated and actual material costs to support profitability.

Operational Excellence

  • Review pick-lists, bills of material, and customer specifications to identify long-lead items and initiate timely procurement.
  • Ensure reliable suppliers are identified and developed to meet high-quality and timely delivery standards.
  • Perform detailed analysis and decision-making under tight timelines.
  • Follow all established safety rules and procedures.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
  • Assist with order accuracy, delivery timelines, and issue resolution. Act as a liaison between vendors, production, and internal stakeholders to ensure customer expectations are met.

TEAM LEADERSHIP:

  • Direct and support the materials team to meet company goals, maintain customer relationships, and uphold receiving and purchasing standards.

RECEIVING LEADERSHIP:

  • Manage and partner with the Receiving Lead to confirm material accuracy, document receipts, and resolve delivery discrepancies. Ensure safe and efficient unloading and material placement.

EQUIPMENT KNOWLEDGE:

  • Microsoft Office Applications
  • ERP Systems

ROLE REQUIREMENTS:

A bachelor’s degree and 3 - 5 years related experience or an associate’s degree and

6 - 8 years’ related experience; or a combination of education and progressively responsible work-related experience. APICS standards education.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

The role is primarily performed in an office setting. Must be able to sit for extended periods while working at a computer. Occasional walking within the facility, including visits to production or receiving areas, may be required. Must be able to lift up to 20 pounds occasionally (e.g., handling documents or light office equipment).

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

This position operates in a professional office environment with frequent interaction with

production, purchasing, and warehouse teams. Standard business hours apply, with occasional

need to visit the production floor or vendor sites. The noise level is generally low to moderate.

Use of standard office equipment such as computers, phones, and printers is required.
