About the Role:

The Field Service Engineer plays a critical role in ensuring the optimal performance and reliability of complex biomedical and automation equipment used across various client sites. This position involves performing preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of sophisticated instrumentation and power supply systems to minimize downtime and enhance operational efficiency. The engineer will work directly in the field, interfacing with clients to understand their technical challenges and provide timely, effective solutions. By leveraging expertise in pneumatics, automation, and biomedical engineering, the engineer will contribute to maintaining high standards of safety and compliance. Ultimately, this role ensures that critical equipment remains fully functional, supporting the essential services provided by our clients in the healthcare and industrial sectors.

Minimum Qualifications:
  • Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Biomedical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related technical field.
  • Proven experience in field service engineering, particularly with preventive maintenance and troubleshooting of biomedical or automation equipment.
  • Strong knowledge of test equipment, power supplies, instrumentation, and pneumatics.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, schematics, and wiring diagrams.
  • Valid driver's license and willingness to travel extensively within the United States.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Certification in biomedical equipment technology or related professional credentials.
  • Experience working with automation systems and programmable logic controllers (PLCs).
  • Familiarity with industry regulations and standards such as FDA, ISO, or IEC related to biomedical devices.
  • Strong customer service skills with the ability to communicate complex technical information clearly to non-technical users.
  • Experience using computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS) or similar software.

Responsibilities:
  • Conduct routine preventive maintenance and calibration of biomedical and automation equipment to ensure consistent performance and compliance with industry standards.
  • Diagnose and troubleshoot technical issues related to instrumentation, power supplies, and pneumatic systems in a timely and efficient manner.
  • Install, test, and commission new equipment at client locations, ensuring proper integration with existing systems and adherence to safety protocols.
  • Provide technical support and training to clients on the operation and maintenance of their equipment to maximize uptime and user proficiency.
  • Document all service activities, including maintenance reports, repair logs, and parts inventory management, to maintain accurate records and support continuous improvement.

The required skills such as preventive maintenance and troubleshooting are essential for diagnosing and resolving equipment issues efficiently, ensuring minimal disruption to client operations. Expertise in test equipment and instrumentation allows the engineer to accurately assess system performance and implement necessary adjustments or repairs. Knowledge of power supplies and pneumatics is critical for maintaining the mechanical and electrical components of biomedical and automation devices. Field service skills enable the engineer to work independently in diverse environments, adapting to varying client needs and equipment configurations. Preferred skills like automation and biomedical engineering deepen the engineer's ability to handle complex systems and provide advanced technical support, enhancing overall service quality.
