Job Description

Kinder Morgan, Inc. is hiring a E&C Technician in Williams, AZ. This is a full-time position, and requiring a high school.

What We Are Looking For

The position will be responsible for the operations and maintenance of industrial equipment, electrical power circuits, control and automation systems, including all mechanical, electronic, Pneumatic, and Hydraulic equipment that is utilized within facilities associated with natural gas compression and transportation.

What You Will Do

Responsible for activities related to electrical, mechanical and control system integrity which may include:
  • Maintain, operate, troubleshoot, repair, calibrate, and adjust various pneumatic, hydraulic, electric and electronic devices.
  • Perform preventative maintenance on pumps, compressors, drivers, and auxiliary equipment.
  • Perform Inspection and Maintenance (I& M) checks on various control systems.
  • Maintain electrical switch gear and power distribution.
  • Perform advanced engine/compressor/pump analytical testing.
  • Evaluation/development/implementation/maintenance of facility grounding systems.
  • Install, analyze and repair security/intrusion systems.
  • Responsible for the general upkeep and maintenance of various facilities including piping, valves and equipment as needed.
  • Perform all work in compliance with Company standards, procedures, and regulatory and tariff requirements.
  • Identify, report and correct safety and environmental concerns.
  • Complete appropriate documentation and paperwork within timeframes assigned.
  • Oversee the construction, maintenance and/or work activities performed by 3rd parties.
  • Demonstrate performance toward operational excellence.
  • Mentor fellow employees when the opportunity presents itself.
  • This position may perform other duties as assigned.

What You Need

Education:
  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
Required Qualifications:
  • Understand and operate electronic test instruments.
  • Good record of safe work practices.
  • Working knowledge and experience reading and interpreting electrical and mechanical blueprints and diagrams.
  • Working knowledge and experience applying and interpreting results from common electrical measurement instruments (voltmeter, ammeter, ohmmeter, oscilloscope, etc.)
  • Working knowledge of National Electric Codes and applicable regulatory requirements associated with pipeline / compression facilities.
  • Ability to estimate installation, operating and maintenance expenses associated with electrical and control systems.
  • Ability to complete work assignments with minimal supervision in an acceptable time frame.
  • Basic computer skills (knowledge of MS Office, various operation systems and other software).
  • Basic math skills (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, fractions, decimals).
  • Good verbal and written communications skills.
  • Must be able to work with a team, take direction from supervisor(s), adhere to required work schedules, focus attention on details and follow work rules.
  • Be detail-oriented.
  • Possess a customer focus approach.
  • Must possess and maintain a valid driver's license and driving record satisfactory to the Company and its insurers.
  • Will be required to obtain all company and regulatory required Operation Qualifications.
  • May be required to achieve and maintain certifications if required to perform job duties.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Journeyman or Masters electrical license.
  • Work experience in natural gas industry instrumentation, electronics, and control systems.
  • Understanding of process controls and gas processing fundamentals.
  • Knowledge and experience in safe handling practices of flammable gases, liquids and high pressure systems.
  • Knowledge and experience with high pressure natural gas, processing equipment, pumps and reciprocating or gas turbine engines and compressors.
  • Knowledge of natural gas regulatory and tariff requirements.
Working Conditions:
  • May be required to carry a cell phone and be available to respond during working and non-working hours.
  • Must sustain regular and predictable attendance.
  • Depending on location and workload, travel will be required.
  • Must live or relocate to live (by position start date) within 50 miles of reporting location, or an hour drive from reporting location in regularly expected traffic and weather. Or as determined by area management.
  • The successful candidate will be required to clear a drug screen and a complete background check, after an offer has been extended and prior to being employed. This position is subject to random drug testing as required by the DOT.
  • Ability to lift as much as 50lbs.
  • Standing, walking, sitting, lifting, carrying, pushing, pulling, twisting, climbing, balancing, stooping, bending, kneeling, reaching, crouching, crawling, reaching, handling, grasping, feeling, talking, hearing, smelling, near and far acuity, depth perception, color vision and field of vision.
  • Ability to use hand tools and equipment, repetitive hand use such as simple grasp and twisting motion.
  • May periodically work in low-lit areas.
