Description:

Join the Outdoor Adventures team at one of the largest, most beautiful, and top private country clubs in North America, Desert Mountain Club, as an Outdoor Adventures Manager!

In this role, you will be responsible for the vision, growth, financial stewardship, safety standards, and elevated member experience of a dynamic outdoor program delivering approximately 100–135 events annually. This role requires a hybrid leader, equally comfortable in strategic planning, member relationship building, financial management, and in-field guiding. The Outdoor Adventures Manager must embrace our core value of providing a safe, positive, and healthy culture that treats all teammates with dignity, care, and professionalism.

The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 3 years progressive leadership experience in outdoor recreation, experiential programming, or related hospitality fields. Demonstrated experience in culture building, financial oversight, and operational management. Experience in a premium hospitality environment preferred.

Required Certifications:

  • Wilderness First Responder certification required within 6 months of start date.

  • CPR and First Aid Certification must be obtained within 90 days of start date.

  • Must have a valid driver’s license with no traffic violations within the last 3 years.

JOB DETAILS

Responsibilities:

  • Manage, recognize, and hold team members accountable for consistently executing the Desert Mountain mission, vision, values, and service standards. This includes, but is not limited to, delivering excellence, creating exceptional experiences, and maintaining courtesy and efficiency within the operation.
  • Design innovative, member-driven outdoor programming aligned with Club demographics and premium service standards ensuring safety, and industry best practices.
  • Establish clear operational standards. safety protocols, and monitor KPIs including participation, member satisfaction, revenue performance, and operational efficiency.
  • Assist in the strategic planning of the Outdoor Adventures Department for future growth.
  • Develop and manage accurate budget tracking for the department.
  • Oversee payroll and review staffing schedules to ensure budget alignment and operational efficiency.
  • Hire, onboard, train, coach and retain the best talent.
  • Ensure compliance with all land management agencies, permits, legal requirements, and insurance standards.
  • Oversee staff certification requirements including CPR, First Aid, Wilderness First Aid/Responder, and Leave No Trace.
  • Create an environment where the safety and health of members and teammates is the highest priority.
  • Possess and share a robust knowledge of the area’s fauna, wildlife, geology, and history.
  • Be flexible to assist as needed throughout the Sonoran Clubhouse, including covering MOD shifts as scheduled.
  • Other duties as assigned by Director of Athletics & Sonoran Clubhouse.
